  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I simply do not want to tell anyone that I have had recent and growing problems binge drinking because I know it would harm their perception of me. Plus, I don't want to go meet strangers or deal with an authority figure. Both would be awful for my anxiety.

Are there reliable ways to go cold turkey by myself? It's been hard because my anxiety has been through the roof and when it peaks nothing takes the edge off. I've tried weed but it just backfires and makes me more anxious and overwhelmed. I can't take time off work during this either. I don't own a bike or car so a lot of coping methods don't work for me. Executive dysfunction is also in the way. Please, what can I do? I want to stop before I fuck my liver to hell.

I am going to see my psychiatrist tomorrow. Are there anti-anxiety meds that help quit drinking?

Finding another substance of abuse can help.
It's not really the ideal recommended way.
But if we had lives full of support and love perhaps we would not be abusing substances.
Many have used Kratom to stop drinking.
However, they are just trading addictions. So it's a question of tradeoff in the effects.

If you've been binge drinking a lot, going cold-turkey can actually be really dangerous.
The thing I've seen be recommended the most is the taper off method, so say you've been drinking 15 drinks a day. Next day do 13. Following day 11. Etc
If you've been drinking a whole bottle, drop it to 3 quarters over a couple days. Then half for a couple more days. Etc etc.
Tapering is the best way to maintain your health and prevent your body from going into shock.
There's lots of support resources and stuff online, no need to go to groups if you don't want to.
In terms of anti-anxiety meds, I like propanolol. Helps the physical symptoms ie nausea, butterflies, etc.

It sounds like you drink to cope with anxiety so sure they could help. Benzos are certainly just another addictive alcohol substitute. The core issue may be to find any way to cope with anxiety.

I think your question is a very personalised issue that doesnt have a generalised answer. I think addiction is usually a result of other life issues
