  • Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Has anyone on here had Janina Fisher therapy for c-ptsd with or without fragmentation, or for DID?
I believed I was having this but now find out I only get stage 1 because my MH worker isn't qualified to do the rest, and I'm devastated. So I've bought some books and gonna try and teach myself/treat myself. Was it useful for you? Any tips?

You probably already have this, and I couldn't read it all, but just in case... here's a PDF.

From what I know about it, I definitely subscribe to the majority of the theory when it comes to formation, but if you don't like "parts language," (like me) you're out of luck. This type of stuff also tends to be very final fusion based, and I genuinely don't believe the average person could achieve final fusion on their own without therapy (it typically takes years WITH a licensed psychologist), but I'm sure there could be things that work for functional multiplicity too.

I definitely prefer less of a "these are all parts" approach because some people take it too far, personally. My therapist is a hypnotherapist who specializes in DID and has experience with high alter count systems like me (2000+), and his approach is to humanize the alters, but also bring to the entire system's attention why each alter may have formed and what this alter can do to fit in to the system as a cohesive puzzle piece to make us all work better! Of course, he knows I wouldn't be able to achieve, nor WANT final fusion, so there's that. He'd never correct me on my own harmless language about my disorder like some "parts" therapists do.

This is wonderful Thank you so much. I'm only just starting the very beginning of the therapy. And I want what you describe. I have far fewer parts but I want them to start understanding why they formed and what they're trying to achieve and respect them. So get them to work together. Not to fuse or disappear. And I want to be rid of the memory gaps, the overwhelm. I don't know what language is ok or not because I've not had any therapy for it, so it's just what I've made up really. So i don't know what "parts language" is. But i'm desperate for a solution. There seem to be very few therapists trained in JF work in the UK so I think my only chance is to get what I can from it by reading her books. I only decided to go it alone after a dreadful session yesterday with my psych nurse (he's usually good but not yesterday), and today I haven't been able to read the books much because the words were appearing all jumbled and nonsensical (it happens to me sometimes). I had a quick look at the PDF and it looks brilliant but I failed to finish it, but I've just got off the phone to the crisis team so I'm a bit post-crisis if you know what I mean. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your insight. It's so helpful. I like the sound of your therapist's approach. I hope you are making good progress with your aim. Atm I'm just overwhelmed a bit with trying to get through each day with all the memory gaps and chaos switching from one to another all the time. Best of luck with your therapy and thank you so much again. xxxx

What you're doing with your therapist sounds like something maybe my cpn could help with. It's on the lines of what he said we'd do originally. Maybe I've misjudged him a little. Thanks so much for your input. Maybe at our next session or bring that forward, I'll ask him exactly what the plan is and whether it's possible for us to work on parts to know why they're there and what they can contribute in a more helpful way. Wow, I'm really inspired now!!!! I think I'll email him again and ask if we can talk about it. You've made my day. When i say I can't thank you enough, I really really mean it. You've managed to straighten my head out a bit about this. xxxx

Good luck!!!!!! Also Parts Language is basically the idea of calling all alters parts of you. It can work in certain situations, but I've heard that some people tend to have issues with therapists correcting them when they humanize alters.

As stated (paraphrased) in the PDF, "seeing an disruptive alter as a young part of you instead of a seperate entity helps foster empathy towards yourself." Which frankly? Doesn't work for me.

My alters are not parts of me any more than I am a part of them. We are all fractured parts of the same brain/mind, but we have different roles in it and we are individuals in our own right. Having been dehumanized my entire childhood. the thought of being corrected by a therapist like that gives me major anxiety.

Simple functional multiplicity is my way to go. Structural Dissociation has some great things, but I feel like some of the methods fall flat, no nuance. Best situation is to find a therapist who can work with multiple sources, and can edit the treatment process to your own needs! I hope that CPN might be that for you. <3
