Hi

I've been contemplating suicide lately, and was thinking (hoping) that jumping off a building or bridge is likely to be the quickest or most painless way to die. I have two questions though.

Do you need to jump from a minimum height to be assured of your death? I was hoping to jump off a bridge - overlooking a bypass - but I'm not convinced it's high enough. It looks as if I *might* die but there is the possibility that I might survive the fall as a paraplegic.

The next question: does the surface make a difference to the impact? As I've already indicated, the bridge overlooks a bypass and the last thing I want to do is fall onto a moving car or onto a concrete road and kill anyone else travelling in a car.

Next to the road, however, is a grass nature strip and I was hoping to land directly on that. But I'm concerned about the possibility that the grass might soften my landing and prevent my death.

Ideally I would jump off a high rise building but it is difficult to know how to get to the top: from my understanding, roofs are closed to the public (or sealed off for this very reason) and many hotels no longer have 'walk on' balconies that you can jump off or windows that you can actually open to climb out of.

It seems as if they're making things increasingly difficult for wannabe suicides.

Thoughts welcome.

a tall building is better, and hitting concrete is best. at least 150 or 180 ft depending who you ask. hitting concrete or asphalt is best, instant death.

I just saw a documentary about a young lady who accidentally jumped without her bunji jumping cables being attached. As the instructor said, now jump, but the instructor said it to her boyfriend, who came first. I guess she must have realized while free falling that she had no cable attached and later it was identified that she has died even before hitting the ground, due to heart attack

It's ridiculous how easily some get to die
