Keeping everyone else happy, sod my happiness

Is anyone else told that you've got to stay alive because such and such needs, relies, or wants you to stay alive or because that person is older and therefore they should go before you! Then you get that it's selfish to commit suicide, well I'm sorry aren't they the ones who are selfish ,demanding I stay alive to keep them happy?
I lost my job a few months back and keep getting told just to go and get any job regardless of how doing that job will affect my health just to keep everyone happy.
I'm sick and tired of been told I've got to do this that and the other to keep everybody else happy.
Where's my happiness, aren't I entitled to happiness even if that means being dead. Am I being selfish?

No - you're absolutely not selfish. We didn't get a choice in being born, it's selfish of others to place the burden of life onto you in the first place.

However, the people who care for you don't want to see you vanish. A lot of people here are caught in that catch 22 - relief for you means grief for others, and vice versa. There's no easy solution, but we shouldn't be expected to hang around for other people's comfort, at the expense of our own.

You are NOT selfish and they definitely are. Why should you suffer for others? This is your life and your happiness is important! You didn't have a say in being born so you should have a say in you dying.
