• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Hey, big disclaimer that I will be using some legal lingo. I'm neither a lawyer nor a native English speaker, so I hope I say stuff that makes sense.
Quick recap of the situation: I attempted with an overdose on H about a month ago. SI made me call the ambulance. I had an automatic email scheduled to my psychologist to warn the police that I had passed so they could collect my body, but because of the emergency my phone was still in my dorm so I had no way to hold back the email. Police went to my dorm, broke the locks of both my door as my landlord's (it's the same house but with 2 entrances). 2 weeks ago I received a letter that she's terminating the rental contract because of the police intervention, the use of illegal drugs and that she feels unsafe with the possibility of it happening again. She asked me to pay the rent for March, but to clear the dorm by March 10th (yesterday).

Last Tuesday I went to the magistrates court to get free advice from a lawyer. She told me that my landlord can't terminate the contract without verdict from the court, and even then I should get a minimum period of at least a month to move out. Only way to fight this however is with a lawyer (expensive) or with a request for reconciliation where I could ask for a longer term or a financial compensation (April 1st was the earliest they could see us, which means another month of rent). I pointed out to my landlord that what she's doing is illegal without verdict. She's been begging me to fix things amically ever since.

I talked to 2 police officers.

Officer 1 agreed with the lawyer that I should get a minimum period to move out, but he said the landlord doesn't need a verdict. He also saw that my landlord didn't register that she's renting out a part of her home (unregistered income = tax evasion). So if my landlord goes to court herself, she's gonna pay. The officer told me that I could just go to my dorm with my rental contract, call the cops and they should let me in. But he wasn't too sure about any of this. Officer 2 would be able to help me better.
Officer 2 told me that there's nothing I can do but move out and ask for a financial compensation. He didn't feel like looking into it any further because "the landlord isn't a known troublemaker".
The last time I went to my dorm was 2 days ago with my mom to "look at the door". Basically since the lock broke by the police intervention, a new one had been installed that I didn't receive the key from cuz my landlord said that the door is broken to the point it doesn't open anymore. That's why I had to "book appointments" to be in my dorm. Landlord handed us the key just to test the lock and the door just opened smoothly. The woman wanted to sit down and talk aka just hold one big plea about how traumatised she is, that she's sick from work, unable to sleep and that we have to move asap or she will have a burnout while bawling her eyes out. She also said I shouldn't contact her between March 10-18, after that I should move out.

It's super sad that I'm left here with no way to still be in my safe space. I will ask my month's rent back as a financial compensation, but it's not about the money. I'd gladly pay more months of rent if only I could be there. I'm being cut off from my social life, mental health providers, school and anything I had built up in the past 2 years living in that city.
My attention had shifted away from ctb while arranging all this legal stuff, but now that that story has come to an end, I think so did mine. I'm right back at the same place that I was a month ago, with the only difference being that I'm now even more concerned about my death being as least of a burden to anyone. I still need around 20 bucks to buy H tho

Firstly, I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope that you recovered without any long lasting damage.

Are you able to secure tenancy anywhere else in the city? I would find it very uncomfortable living in a space where my landlord was afraid of me and desperately wanted me out. If anything, that would add to the despair and wanting to end it all.

Besides mental trauma, my recovery has been good.
I don't think staying there is an option still. Even if I wanted to, my landlord just doesn't allow me there any longer. So I'll have to look for another dorm. Problem is that it's the middle of the school year, so there's few options and I honestly don't have the energy to be checking all those adverts on a daily basis, going to visits etc. If I wasn't exhausted, I wouldn't have ctb in the first place and now people expect me to have the energy to be moving my furniture around

I'm so sorry you have to face these hurdles in the midst of your mental anguish. Do you have any friends or family in the area that could help ease some of the burden of trying to find a new place while you continue to recover?

I have no friends unfortunately. My mom does want to help, but she doesn't live near the city I study at
