  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I feel like the common method in media is a prescription medication. I get that these can be hard to get one's hands on but compared to the brutality of some popular methods on here, it seems simpler. Maybe I am naive. I am prescribed a medication that sounds to have gnarly overdose side effects and they let me have lots at one time (over a hundred doses). Researching, I found one case where someone attempted with my medication and came very close. Is it worth it to try or is there a reason this method isn't more common. Is it way less effective than it appears?

Medication OD is unreliable and shouldn't be considered.

What kind of medications? People die from their medications overdose most of the time. It depends on your health and what medications were used. You are not naive. I'm thinking like you.

If you look at medical reports and studies, they all agree that medication overdoses are rarely successful. Your statement is factually incorrect.

This statement is true. However, most of the people who die from overdoses are elderly or have some rare, pre-existing condition that makes them way more likely to die. The average person does not fit into either of these categories and therefore should not attempt to OD on OTC or prescription medications.

It is very important to consider what the actual dying experience would be like with certain medications. Some (most?) can take days of agony before you are finally at peace, assuming you aren't instead 'saved' and instead left with permanent disability. I personally have made two attempts with medications, one OTC and the other prescription. They were both highly impulsive attempts. I was admittedly found in both cases quite early on after taking the medications and was left without major complications (though the forced admissions to the psychiatric ward left their horrible mental scars). I will not be making an OD attempt again, knowing now what I do. There are other methods that are more reliable and less painful, which are, I believe, the two most important metrics to judge by.

I'm not looking at no medical reports. I know from personal experience and social media that a couple of people died from their medications overdose. It's not one fits all. You can't say medications overdose doesn't work either. Thanks for sharing.
