I would not kill myself if I suddenly came into a lot of money. I don't believe money can buy happiness, but I like a quote from Camus where he says, 'It is a kind of spiritual snobbery that makes people think they can be happy without money,'
I'll always be mentally ill; no amount of money can correct that. But I can manage being ill if I have a safe place to call home and the means to feed and clothes myself.
I'm a few months from being completely insolvent and living on the street. That is not good for anyone, but for someone with my mental health profile and age, it's a condemnation to a nightmarish existence.
I choose not to live in that nightmare and find relief in the knowledge I won't have to contend with all the crap, but I'm not romanticizing my decision nor looking forward to it. It's simply the only reasonable option available to me.
