  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

So I'm going to try to condense this story. I'm 34 year old female diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder for ten years. Prior to that diagnoses, a different dr diagnosed me with narcolepsy but I argued and showed my ass and stormed off. Never gave it much though but here I am ten years later and I know that dr had proof because I am living with all 5 primary symptoms of type 1 narcolepsy. Anyone had a diagnosis change or have narcolepsy?

I don't have either, but my sister lived 10 years wrongly diagnosed with shizoaffective disorder. It wasn't until she moved to a different region in our country and changed psychiatric care provider that they said she probably doesn't have that diagnosis at all. Not sure what it got changed to, but I believe something dissociative-something. I know she also has C-PTSD, but that's not an official diagnosis yet.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to say. Long-time misdiagnoses happen, they can get changed and you can get the correct treatment. As for how to get there, I don't really know. I hope you can figure it out.

Psychologists are just guessing mostly

The presentation of the effects of too much stress on an individual determines the mental illness or disability. Psychologists have gone round and round with me.

I knew a friend with narcolepsy. Try to reduce stress in your life if you can.

Rest easy ❤

Psychologists, GPs, and psychiatrists really just diagnose based on educated opinion. It's always good to get multiple opinions from multiple health professionals. But yes, symptoms can and will change. I'd bring it up to your doctor.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just really upset that I didn't listen the first time. I gained a lot of knowledge about schizophrenia so I'm bummed that I'm starting over with a new diagnoses but I'm still ok, meaning I'm not actively suicidal.
