• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I am trying to get help because mentally I am struggling and I found the way to get help is via my university counselling services.

Yesterday I was supposed to have my first appointment with a counsellor at 10.00am via zoom and I get told early in the morning around 9.00am that my appointment with counsellor is cancelled.

Now I am being told by the university for them to find me another available appointment I face a long wait of several weeks due to high demand for services.

I f*cking hate how non mentally ill think it is so easy to see a therapist. Therapy in the UK is a luxury for the rich and high income people becuase these people can afford to pay for high quality services and actually get help. If you are on low income you have to either use the NHS or alternative low cost options. These systems have their limits.

There is NO help out there for mental health unless you are rich.

i fucking hate therapists, what kind of a bitch would cancel literally one hour before? i'm sorry you deserve so much better. it's crazy how there's more compassion on here than there is from trained professionals… in my experience even if you do have the money or if insurance covers the therapy it doesn't matter, most of the time they don't even want to help you, they just take your money for a year and then ghost you because they decide they can't help you anymore. fuck.

Last May I was really low and got a virtual appointment on a Friday. The therapist didn't show so I just sat logged in for 40min looking at the waiting room screen.

I logged off and went for a walk. Found myself 300m from a gun shop in my town (U.S., awesome like that) and thought to pick up something there, go back to house and be done.

I suddenly got a call from a coworker, we're always there for each other. It snapped me out of it and I walked the 4km back.

But, yeah, getting stood up by help is possibly the worst thing. At least you have us, for what that's worth!

it's so absurd to me that they can't see how they're working with vulnerable people who are dependent on them. it's just incredibly callous. just being abandoned like that after finally looking for help really drives you over the edge.

@astr4 This is the email my university sent me in the morning the day I was supposed to see my counsellor.

"Unfortunately, we need to cancel your appointment you were due to attend at 10am due to unforeseen circumstances."

Suicide is one of the biggest issues facing universities as a result of a rise in student suicides at universities. Universities have been under the spotlight for falling to have accessible mental health systems in place for students to get help.

My university even recommends we use an app to talk to about our problems with other people.

@Redacted24 That therapist is so disrespectful and shameless. If a therapist can't make it then they need to tell the person making someone wait 40 mins on a zoom call is just so disrespectful and so unprofessional too.

This is why people do not ask for help because the mental health care system is bureaucratic and filled with people who dont take seriously their roles. Then society gets surprised when someone kills themselves.

This is why I can never leave Sanctioned Suicide . People here listen to me, take me seriously and do not judge me.
In the UK myself, totally get how desperate the situation is here.
@SVEN The problem with the UK is our politicians do not care about seriously reforming the mental health care system because it is an issue that is not a vote winner.

Society has no empathy for the severely mentally ill. Look what happened a black immigrant schizophrenic man Valdo Calocane was neglected by the NHS and never got the esssntial medical help he needed. He went on to stab to death 3 people in Nottingham.

The mother of one of the victims publicy went on LBC news made racist comments.
She said she had no sympathy for Calocanes mother and then said " they brought that individual into the world and this country." I was mortified when I watched the LBC interview.

The comments on the daily mail and other UK online platforms accused the man of "playing the mental health card" to get a lower sentence. We have a population that can not understand this man is severely mentally ill and doesn't have the capacity to understand what he did.

@astr4 I genuinely think people who work with vulnerable people for so long become desensitised towards suffering and stop caring.
