Help Olanzapine as an alternative to metoclopramide?

I found this study below:

The use of olanzapine versus metoclopramide for the treatment of breakthrough chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy - PubMed

Olanzapine was significantly better than metoclopramide in the control of breakthrough emesis and nausea in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy.

It compares olanzapine and metoclopramide in treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting. Olanzapine performed better than meto at preventing vomiting.

39 out of 56 (70 %) chemotherapy patients had no vomiting with olanzapine.
16 out of 52 (31 %) chemotherapy patients had no vomiting with metoclopramide.

Does anyone know if the same would apply to preventing nausea from SN ingestion (or other poisons)? I am prescribed olanzapine, so would be easier for me to obtain than meto.

Olanzapine acts as a dopamine antagonist too, just like meto does, but I was not able to find any exact numbers on its dopamine affinity. So it is likely to work, but I cannot pronounce myself on the dose you should take.

What I can tell from my own experience with people taking it is that olanzapine will not prevent vomiting due to getting drunk - but then again, neither will meto, and we're not talking about alcohol poisoning so this point is moot.

Interesting. I have both olanzapine and domperidone. Olanzapine is great for sleeping.

How effective would Olanzapine (zyprexa) be as alternative antiemetic for SN as compared to metoclopramide? What's with the dopamine affinity thing?

I just want to know more.. I'm in US..

When I was on chemo, I was given both Reglan and Zyprexa. Reglan worked a lot better for my nausea, so I've just kind of always assumed it was more effective in general. So I'm really not sure in this case. I tend to lean toward the proven recommendations.
