  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Hello, so I'm trying to get a job so I can start being independent but I don't want an in person job because I really hate driving and honestly I share a car with my family but having the car for any amount of time makes me nauseous cause I feel like I'm taking it away from someone else.

I would also like a part time job since I go to school.

But I don't know what to look for to find said jobs. I've only seen customer service, or "data entry" but data entry jobs are always scams and I honestly don't want to do customer service but I may consider it at some point if they let me work very flexible hours.

I'm sorry if I sound super picky, it's just that I'm a shut in and paranoid so I can't really do things that "inconvenience " other people cause it makes me anxious. I transfered colleges to a super cheap one because my grades were so bad and my parents were paying for tuition so I felt like killing myself on the daily cause my brain convinced me I was a money sucking parasite.

Honestly customer service is going to be the best bet, but you'll have to comb through a lot of jobs to find a reasonable one with flexible part time hours.

My Advice would be looking for places that pride themselves in being accessabile to the disabled as they are more likely to offer flexible hours and make adjustments. If you live in a country that has a scheme for it you may even be able to search for jobs under that scheme , you may be able to search through jobs that qualify for that scheme, for example in the UK it's called "Disability Confident Employers", you don't have to be disabled to get those jobs it's simply a good indicator that they are willing to make adjustments

Thank you very much for your kind words. I hope your job search is successfull as well. My new college is less competitive so I think I should be fine. Commuting is gonna be my main issue since it's an hour away. Basically I drive 20 minutes to a park and ride then take a 1 hour bus. I honestly should've picked an online school at this point lol. But I picked that school cause my sister went there. I only have to do 3 semesters and I'll graduate so 6 months of.that commute then I'll be free. I'll also skip my graduation too cause I'm tired of college.

Sounds great! :D also, an hour bus ride doesn't sound too bad~ driving is the worst ngl~ but on the bus, you can just do homework and other stuff like studying, reading and texting people [if you have anyone >_<] :) so hopefully, you'll never have to actually do any of that homework/studying at home! :D anyways, getting to he out in 3 semesters for certain sounds nice~ :) hopefully, your job doesn't basically force you to go back! >_<

The ride itself isn't the issue honesty. Just like having to drive.there and then take the bus and then the bus cost 15 dollars a day. It's just annoying.

You might have already, but I'd check if your college has any 'work study' or similar positions(most common in community colleges in my experience). Most of the time these are for students who the work will line up with whatever they wanna do, but there are also basic ones like front desk positions etc. This is kinda my only suggestion for remote work(once I had a remote web dev position this way) because in my expirience most of those are scams, already require you to have your degree, or you to have been working there for a few months first.

For non-remote work, since you're already having to make the commute I'd reccomend looking around your school and seeing if anyone is hiring. Kinda hit or miss on that, but like other people have said, customer service is probably your best bet there.
Janitorial or other similar 'classified' positions are also pretty good if you just wanna do your job and then leave for the day with minimal socialization. A good number even let you wear headphones while you work. Background positions like that tend to help me with my paranoia a little too. You learn a lot about places when people are content to ignore you.

Good luck finding a remote job. They're super selective as the remote labor market is far more competitive now (post-pandemic era) since there's millions of other people just like you that also want to work remotely.

Unless you've got the experience, education, and credentials to really sell yourself with on your resume, you're probably going to have to bite the bullet and work in-person.

if you're into mindless grinding, some websites do offer pay for playing mobile games. it's far from my favorite way to make money though

Thank you for the suggestions. Web dev is actually the field im looking into besides being an artist. Unfortunately all my school jobs are in person and honestly I want to avoid being there longer than I have to. So rn I have a part time job in a game store. I'm applying to more jobs and I'll be quiting earliest October first, latest December once I have an online job lined up.

The job pays pretty good. But I've only been working it 3 days and I'm getting sick. I know I'm unhealthy and stuff but over stimulation plus going from sedentary to moving around as well as just general anxiety from driving and crying on the road from almost getting hit everytime I drive and driving at anything over 30 mph is actually making me deteriorate.

I've heard of those but it's like 2 cents an hour right?

if you do the better game offers then you should net at least $10 an hour, but this number isn't consistent and sometimes depends on your strategy for playing the game. there are a ton of guides and writeups available usually for the popular ones!
