  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Peaceful Death?

Do you think it is possible to have a peaceful death? And, if so, how? Would it be more of a physical/objective question? Would it be more of a mental/subjective question? Would it be both equally a physical/objective question and a mental/subjective question? Would it be, partially or entirely, a question for something else?

I think that it is possible. And I think that it is mostly a personal question. People can have, and in my humble opinion, do have, some common necessities for a peaceful death, but the meaning of a peaceful death itself is already a personal question. I am thinking in terms of it not being unpleasant, or even being pleasant. But, literally, for anyone else it could be anything else. Does someone have some interest in discussing this?

Furthermore, if help is needed to achieve the goal of a peaceful death, whatever it means to you, do you think it is possible to convince the people most close to you in helping you? Or would it be too much, considering how the matter is treated, practically, at all the places and at all the times?

Thanks,

B.

Some just slip away. Everyone else avoids the slipping. Plan A is better!

I would love to die peacefully in my sleep but I'm too young and healthy for that. The only people who know if dying is truly peaceful can't tell us. I hope mine still can be though.

First thing that comes to mind are accounts where a person's family member passes peacefully, due to old age. In the end I would say it's possible, as long as if the person manages to be content despite all of the existing factors in their last moments, which said factors would be, as you have already said, vastly dependent on each individual. There's probably at least a few general things that are universally required for experiencing a genuinely peaceful passing though, like a degree of regret that the individual would be content with, or maybe ultimately a lack of it altogether.

Just wanting some peace

For me a peaceful death would be one that is completely painless with no risks of trying to die going wrong and leading to way worse agony, I just wish for a death as peaceful and painless as possible, I wish for no more suffering. I'd personally feel at peace if I had the option to just cease existing like never waking ever again that is guaranteed as all I hope for is to never exist ever again, I only wish and hope for non-existence, for me ceasing to exist is the only peace as after all there are no disadvantages to an eternal dreamless sleep where all is finally forgotten.

Thank you @Richard Langford , and you @TheHolySword , and you @SteamaHorns , and you @FuneralCry , and you, too, @Worndown , very much, for the sincere and honest replies. I again searched for the peace, and I again failed in finding it; now here once more. A plan… may be…
