I've been convinced suicide is my only hope, a close friend (roommate) tells me that they love me and want me around. I feel trapped as my only hope has been suicide and I have not even considered trying to keep going...it feels hopeless.

That's true, staying around so someone else isn't sad isn't being fair to the person wanting to go.
