I always wondered about the US approach. In US TV nudity sucha an issue. The scandal of Janett Jackson and the Superbowl is such a joke. Also that swearing is censored this heavily. Who cares? Children will hear those words anyway by their parents.
In Germany you can se boobs on TV on air at any time of the day. There are movies rated for kids up the age of 6 that show nudity.
As a teenager I watched the uncensored version of Fantastic Movie (Which shows a completely nude woman) at the afternoon at one big TV station. (I think it was a violation of the laws but not punished I think the scene should only be aired after 10 p.m. actually. But there was no punishment.)
I think the European approach makes way more sense. There are The Walking Dead episodes which are so brutal that they had to be censored to get access to the German market. Personally, I think this is one step too much . Considering the fact that real life gore is that easily available on the internet I think such a step is a joke.
I read though that in the US explicit violence is way more accepted on TV which does not make sense to me.
I go with violence. I watched gore before I watched porn.
