• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

My first post here was about the lack of security/privacy on the email delayed-delivery service TimeCave. I have since shifted to LetterMeLater, but I was still paranoid enough about it last night that I didn't feel comfortable using it. I would have made do, but it wouldn't have been as certain.

I also found it surprisingly difficult to hit <send> on those delayed emails, even knowing I could go back in and cancel them. Since I am writing this now, instead of at last at peace, I obviously would have needed that feature.

This morning I went looking for what I've always heard called a "deadman's switch": an email is all ready to go, but it doesn't need me to hit <send>, it will send automatically if I don't do anything.

The good news is that there are several services that do just that. Write your emails, place them in the queue, and at a pre-determined interval of non-communication, the website sends them. The first two I stumbled on are:

https://www.deadmansswitch.net/
https://www.phpmillion.com/dead-man-switch/

The bad news is that to get a service worth having --for instance, a delay interval less than a month, or more than two emails-- they're a paid site. But the first one, which looks the best to me, is only $20 for a lifetime account. It may be worth it.

I've realized that the preparations/rituals of ctb are becoming a hindrance. They are no longer a running start, but a hill to climb before I can reach the cliff edge and jump. I've had three failures to ctb in three weeks, and I'm getting desperate to streamline my process. For that, $20 might be worth it.

That looks interesting and while I don't have many people I wish to contact or write a notification to, I'll consider it when the time gets much closer to when I choose actually get to ctb'ing.

Zoho Mail has a native option to schedule an email to send at a specific time built into their web mail interface; this isn't a third party plug-in like Boomerang or Email Studio for gmail.

I've tested it out and it works as expected. It did not require me to be logged into my mail at the time the email was sent. Email can be deleted before the scheduled sending time if necessary.

They offer free personal accounts.

Thank you for your research. I'm still to wary of electronic mail. Doing the deed itself brings already many insecurities/being scared. Another smal ldoubt might be the drop that I would postphone it yet another time.

I'ld personaly leave nothing or if I had to, one written note/story on the place where I'ld die. You can adress several people there or seal envelopes so they can't read eachothers messages.
