  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I wanted to see if anyone had an experience similar to mine.

For me it was a stress response in 2019. In the night I'd start feeling a presence, and the presence felt so clear I could imagine it. It just... felt like my imagination amped up to 11. There was a tall man(?) in an all black cloak covering his entire body and a white plague doctor mask covering his face. He kept trying to touch my face and I fought him off. It didn't feel fully real, I knew it wasn't real, but it was like a very vivid daydream taking place right before my eyes. After a while we talked and I made friends with him. I let him touch my face because he was just curious. Maybe he wasn't actually human. I let him lay down with me.

He appeared for another two days in a row. I'd talk to him out loud quietly and he helped me feel less alone.

In the morning, I felt a giant, black centipede crawling on me. I saw it on my arm. Again, I knew it wasn't real, but it felt like a very vivid daydream. I could feel the sensation of it faintly. It feels really hard to explain. All it took for me to imagine it, to "see" it, was for me to feel its presence. I tried to pull it off and after a few attempts, it worked.

Have you had "pseudohallucinations" like this before? I really, really don't want to be alone in this experience.

I don't mean specifically the same hallucinations, honestly, just the experience of it being like vivid imagination.

I had, to quote you "pseudohallucinations", a lot. Wether it was when i was a child, or an pre-pubescent teenagers, those were stress response. My anxiety was showing through the cracks, and that's how it manifested itself. It came again in 2016, and again my psychiatrist thought it was a stress response. To quote them : "either a stress response or an illness" ; so anyway, each sucks.

May I ask, could it possibly be a stress response?
Do you feel like you're more anxious, nervous, stressed out ?

This was a while back, but back then, I remember losing a friend who was very dear to me. I became completely emotionally numb for weeks, and soon after the "pseudohallucinations" followed. I know I dissociate a lot in response to even mild stress and I thought that was all, but then this happened and it changed what I thought I knew about my stress response.

I was diagnosed with psychotic depression when I was 17/18. While I think some of the stuff my therapist tried to explain as delusions/in my head was BS, I do remember having a couple of episodes similar to you.

Waking up with swarms of tiny red bugs covering me and the bed, ambient noises like groans from trains or pipes in the shower becoming whispering and distant shouting, stuff like that.

Nothing completely unbelievable, kinda strangely mundane compared with what most think of when they think of hallucinations/psychosis.
