• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Recently my dad told me about the inquest after my cousin ctb and some things in it just don't make much sense to me so I'd be grateful if anyone could give some more insight.

The first thing, my cousin hung herself using partial hanging and airway compression. I didn't think this would be possible as surely the survival instinct would kick in and make you stand up/save yourself in the time it takes to pass out from airway compression. She didn't have any alcohol or drugs in her system so it's not as if that would have prevented or numbed the survival instinct.

Second, apparently she didn't use a noose. I don't know if by this they mean she didn't use a hangman's noose (I believe that's what it's called, the typical one you see depicted) in which case I'd assume she used a running knot and that people didn't realise this was the right way to tie a noose. I've been under the impression that you need to use a running knot as it tightens to compress the airway/arteries, and didn't really think any other knot would be successful.

Lastly, this is more of a disbelief thing, is that my cousin is always talked about as doing it impulsively and being level headed. I just find it very hard to believe she managed to get a rope that didn't break with no prior planning and tied it in a way that compressed the airway without knowing how (I don't think it would be common knowledge to know how to tie a noose though I may be wrong). Thinking about the amount of people who thoroughly research hanging and still fail, I just find it hard to believe that she succeeded without having any prior knowledge, to me it indicates an incredible stroke of luck, that she researched for some time before, or that she quickly googled something beforehand. Nobody's ever mentioned her phone though so I'm not sure if it was actually checked, or if they did check it and didn't find anything that would indicate it was preplanned.

Partial hanging is a very known method for a suicide. And also it is often used for sexual pleasure in a autoerotic asphyxiation. Maybe it was a accidental death. It is very often.

I didn't think it would be possible to do partial while compressing the airway, since it would take a long time to pass out and the survival instinct would kick in. The inquest ruled it a suicide because of what her ex messaged her that day so it wasn't an erotic thing

Here many people looking for a ideal painless way. But if you are decided and you do not care, the suicide is not difficult. Maybe it will be painful and long, but many people did it without any thinking. And also a cause of the vagus nerve is possible. If this nerve in the neck is excited, the heart will colapse and the blackout will come. It is difficut to do it purposely, but it is possible.

The key is putting all your weight down at once, instead of slowly slumping down. If you do that you can lose consciousness very quickly because both jugulars and carotids will be compressed. The airway will also be constricted but it doesn't matter. She probably lost consciousness so quickly there was little discomfort.

Thats the irony of it all, some of try lots of times and know all the little details yet always fail, and others can succeed on their first try and even accidentally...

At the inquest they said she died from the airway compression though, and I thought if the arteries were compressed that would've killed her faster and they'd rule that as the cause of death instead. I'm not really sure though
