  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Here are 2 things I tell myself when things get really bad:

1) You wanna die? You're definitely going to die buddy, I promise you, it's coming!

2) I can always do this tomorrow. It doesn't have to be today.

Perhaps it's silly, but there's something really disarming about these statements.

1 just makes me feel more depressed thinking about the years it will take before I die a natural death.

2 is fine, but then I'd be like "but what am I going to do with myself right now"?

It's good that these work for you though. I guess the thing is we all find different ways to try and deal with what we're going through.

Committing suicide is such a fucking hassle that I often get cognitive fatigue after thinking about how I'd do it. Wish I had a shotgun, wish I had a shotgun, wish I had a shotgun.

1) yes we are all gonna die one day, but I'd rather be in control of that moment

2) tomorrow may not come if you get hit by a bus later so why wait? why live on the what ifs?

Thoughts like that don't give me relief. They just make me feel powerless.

Hmm, yeah. I guess because there's implied hope & self-agency in those statements?

It doesn't always work for me but sometimes I tell myself something similar: Just this day (/week/month). Just get through this day (/week/month) because tomorrow might be different.

They sound anxiety-reducing, great that you're coming up with stuff like that

I usually remind myself that I'll (in all likelihood) will have time to kill myself before anything really bad happens (large amounts of physical pain) and that I'll get warnings ahead of time. Maybe I'll have to make due with a knife or sheet, but it's better than nothing. I should really get to upgrading my knife, at least. The one I have will do the trick in a real pinch, but I'd like to have something bigger and sharper. Also might get some real rope and have it tied and ready for full suspension.

I also tell myself that just because I don't have enough push factors to ctb at this moment, that doesn't mean that I won't be able to do it when I don't have any way out of large amounts of physical pain. Unless I get paralyzed or something, and at that point all you can do is try to meditate and beg to be mercy-killed.

I think in a similar way. To me suicide is like the last resort, if I fuck up or am in a verrrry bad situation i can always rely on killing myself to get out and not having to deal with the pain or consequences.

not having to deal with the pain or consequences.
Not my place to say, but you seem to be quite self-judgemental. By the way, you don't avoid dealing with "the consequences", you actually ""alter"" the contents of the consequences in your hypothetical scenario.
