I've been viewing some forums, threads, YouTube videos, etc about topics relating to "the meaning of existence" and "is life worth living." Of course, many normie sites often have your typical "pls no comit death :( " labels as if that has any effect on a persons conscience decision on whether or not to continue their existence. I find most of this philosophical content interesting, yet lacking objective truth, and conclude on the same vacuous, mind numbing, regergetated slop every content creator is "required" to conclude with.
The point of this thread is to separate fact from speculation, and draw our own conclusions from there. I've decided to listen few to hopefully put a factual perspective regarding your decision making:
1. You are not asked to exist. Your existence comes from two people who didn't bother the ramifications of raising a child in an unsafe, unstable environment.
2. You are not "free". What do I mean by this? Well, it's simple. In a society you never asked to be born in, you are expected to participate in. Even members of your family will shame you if you point this out! If you refuse to participate in society, you'll end up homeless. Forced altruism is not freedom.
3. Powerlessness. I can speak from personal experience regarding this topic. Whenever I see a corrupt politician, CEO, NGO, religious establishment, or individual take part in heinous actions only for them to receive a slap on the wrist, I can't help have the burning urge to to shoot the motherfuckers myself. I know that won't solve anything, but it will send a strong enough message to say that you're NOT untouchable. Many nights I have thought about martyrdom, as I place little value on my existence. I always remind myself that I can't get them all, and I'll just be spun as some crazy guy. We all know how the media crafts narratives from there.
4. You will grow old, and weak, and there's nothing you can do about it. Even if you eat the healthiest of meals, exercise regularly, and maintain healthy social connections, there will be one day where you won't be able to do anything. Your children, if you're lucky enough to have them, will be cleaning up after you. They will be holding your hand while they slide a bed pan under your ass while you shit and piss, and all you can do is try not to embarrass yourself more than you already have. If you decide not to have kids, a stranger, who only does it for a paycheck, will clean up after you. You are more than happy to debate which is worse.
5. Global insecurity. War is on the horizon, and talks of a partial draft is on the way. Do you wanna die for a country that hates you and makes you miserable, so far away from everything you care about?
6. Humanity. Or the "human condition", "duality of man", or whatever turn of phrase you prefer. Even assuming you did everything right, there's still no guarantee that it will go well. People are getting more and more erratic, willing to kill each other over virtually nothing. Now I'm not a religious person, but I can clearly see biblical esque violence every time the news is on. You may refute "isn't that always happening?" Please sit down somewhere if you aren't already, and repeat the quote slowly. If you aren't at least terrified, congratulations! You're desensitized.
After all I've covered, I'd like to ask you one, simple question:
Do you still believe life is worth living?
