  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I just edited a statement for a job I liked, spent 3 hours on it (I have dyslexia, can read and write fine, it just takes a lil while to warm up on a new task)

I went to upload it and they closed the advert 7 days early.

It was up for 1 day before I saw it, it closed after being up for 4 days.

The goal was to submit today and I honestly want to smash my head on the table or choke myself.

This is my everyday existence. I got used to unsuccessful applications but to not too slow to apply thing.

I know now to push with an application the second I see it but this feeling today is a lot.

Everything about my life is a decline

Before I missed something out

Now I don't get to attempt.

I had a job at 16, confidently changed and got qualifications until early 30's and then I quit as anxious and depressed.

I took 4 years to feel better

It's now been 2 years of trying and rejection.

I'm so sad ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm so sorry. I've had lots of missed opportunities as well partly because of my mental health issues. Those made it seem like I'm moving in an entirely different timeline amidst the rest of the world. But back to you: even if evident, immediate results don't show, it sounds like you've been really working hard and doing everything you can to achieve your goals, good for you! Sometimes working hard all the time can be tiring so it's important to take rest days; maybe this way your mind is gently reminding you it needs it just for today. It also may not seem much, but you partly have achieved your goal for today: you finished your statement, right? It was still under your projected time limit so that's something you've accomplished successfully. It's not your fault, or under your control that company decided to pull that ad earlier. Your efforts may not have the results you expected but you did the best you could. There's just some things that're unavoidable and out of our control.

Thank you - I feel a bit calmer now. Just mild headache ๐Ÿค•

It's true - I did what I set out to do

Maybe it's good I experienced the shock in private. I have to be more chill, even if I can't make sense of the situation immediately just trust that I can stay calm and it will make some sense laterโ€ฆ even if I have to vent here for clarity.

I really feel for you. I'm looking for jobs at the moment too and it's so disheartening.

Really, at any stage of the application process, it hurts to be rejected. I start to feel really resentful to be honest. I must have spent SO much money going to interviews all around the country, only to be rejected. I know it's silly and pointless to whine. It's not the employers fault- it has to be done and of course- they have to pick the right candidate. It just becomes so depressing though.

Plus, I think people are generally less courteous now. Many employers don't even seem to bother to tell you if you were unsuccessful. They just expect you to realise after not hearing back for weeks. Or- like you say- the application just suddenly disappears after a tiny amount of time. Honestly- part of me feels suspicious on things like that. They may have just filled the job role in house.

I hope at least you can save that application and perhaps it will make the wording easier on future applications. Best of luck to you. ๐Ÿค—

Thanks for the luck wishes ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think the in house is the truth, job advertised just to tick a fairness box.

Each employer is its own cultureโ€ฆ it takes so long to grasp them.

I honestly feel like an alien trying to find a new planet to live on ๐Ÿ˜‚

Man. I'm so glad I'm on survivable disability benefits, no way I could go through getting a job.
