On February 25th, an active serving USAF member named Aaron Bushnell walked calmly to the Israeli embassy and self-immolated in protest of the current and ongoing genocide being committed by Israel and aided by the US against Palestine.


I have been rocked by this. I am furious, disgusted, and ashamed of my country and government. What its doing drove this man to this because he could not live with being even indirectly complicit with genocide and the unapologetic murder of children.

May he be at peace and may his message resonate forever.

We as a world decreed after WWII "NEVER AGAIN!" And 79 years later the US is now engaging in what it promised to always prevent.

If I weren't so afraid of pain, I would do the same.

Not to be that guy, but I guess I will be. The Israelis would be genocided by their enemies if given the chance. The brutal treatment that has been done to Israeli civilians and POWs has already proven this point. So what, is it better for the US to support that instead? Is it not the same thing?

Personally, as a US citizen, I don't see how we (as in us people) are responsible for what our government does. We ultimately have no power over them. Sure, we can "just vote for the right people" as if that's ever done anything. This shitty government, like every government across the world, fucks over so many people and I am not content with it. We're forced to just let them fuck us. If we even talk about restructuring it we're branded an extremist. I don't want to live in this country, but frankly, I also don't see how any other country is much better than the US. The world itself is just fucked. The people running it not to better the world, but to make gains from it, damn everyone else. It's how it always has been. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of having 0 power over what a small group of people who are supposed to "serve the people" do. But then again, would we be much better if given the power?

I agree 100%, what Israel does is insane. The Hamas are terrorists, yes. But the civilians in Palestine.... they re innocent.

To me it seems like it is his own belief what he says and it is very relatable. I don't think there was any involvement of extremists whatsoever.

Then you might find more things relatable, because this is not the first incident of an American anti-Zionist going completely crazy since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war.

The first thing I thought when I saw this thread, Aaron Bunshell might have suffered from PTBS from war. That can lead you to extreme actions, too.

The last link seems from a right-wing extremist. They re insane.

That's why I think it's more tragic, because in this incident the person killed himself and did not attack Jews/Israelis or other people.
