• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

i usually bite my fingers and my cuticles until i bleed, cant control it and i feel like its not "viable" way to hurt myself cause I still feel empty after I do it
i already tried cutting myself some time ago, but i never went that deep cause im too scared to get an infection T^T
Anyways, I want to try cutting myself to see if I can in any way get rid of my mental pain, but i need some tips on how to hide my scars, cause i usually wear skirts, shorts and t-shirts almost everyday
I feel like using makeup is a good ideia but does it look weird? Idk T^T

I would suggest you to experiment with other forms of self harm such as flicking a rubber band on your skin first or if you want to make marks use red marker on your skin. You don't necessary have to cut deep to relieve mental pain, you can do light cuts which can actually hurt more and sting for a while as it doesn't kill the nerve cells on your skin. Cutting lighter also less risks scars. To prevent infection just clean or put something on yours cuts.

I cut mostly on my outer forearm which I can hide with arm warmers when I want to. I have also cut high up on my thighs which i hid with my skirt. You could also cut on your lower legs if you wear high/knee thighs or long socks. The t-shirt could hide cuts on tummy and maybe upper arms. Most self harm isn't probably going to make all the emptiness or other negative emotion go away sadly but it can slightly help.

When I tried to cut myself I used a razor and I did it very slightly but I did the same movements repeatedly. It didnt burn at the moment when I did it but the next day it was burning as hell and I had marks everywhere in my arms that burned ALOT , i dont know if i cut deeper I wont feel less burn? Well im fine if it hurts when I do it, the only problem is if it hurts alot after i do it the next day, thats what i suffered with when i did it . Maybe I'll do what you said, and try to hurt myself in some hidden spots !!

I have cut with a razor before but I never had a burning feeling the day after, maybe itching. When I used the razor I did it as hard as I could (as the razor I had isn't an effective cutter if you don't take the blade out of it) on my forearm once or maybe twice on different places of it and it caused a stinging pain for quite a bit of time. If you feel like the razor isn't enough you can try and take out the blade out of it to get a more effective cutter.

The makeup only works when they are scarred sadly, but it also depends on how deep the cuts were
If you do it after you cut or the next weeks after, it looks really weird, and I think there's risk of infection, not sure ╥﹏╥
But if you want to hide them wearing skirts I recommend only cutting like really up where the skirt can cover the cuts, and for the arms you could use arm warmers!

Cutting doesn't get rid of your pain. Any relief that it provides is very short-lived and a lot of people end up developing an addiction to it, which only ends up creating more stress in their lives. If you already feel empty from biting your fingers, then you'll probably end up feeling empty from cutting, especially once the endorphins die down, which won't take long. I personally recommend against it.

If you don't bother listening to my warning, then makeup doesn't do much to help with hiding scars (at the hypertrophic ones) and can end up staining your clothes. Along with that, it is also important to note that scars can also be itchy and painful sometimes (nerve pain) and sometimes having fabric covering them can worsen it (at least from my experience). Bad scarring typically happens if you cut too deep (mid-styro cuts and deeper). Cat scratches tend to result in little to no scarring, but the downside is that it's uncommon for people to start cutting deeper due to feelings of their SH being invalid or because it doesn't satisfy them anymore.

If you want to wear skirts then you shouldn't cut around your thighs since there is a much higher risk of them being exposed. If you don't want to risk getting an infection then you have to practice proper aftercare in accordance to how deep your cuts are.

Anyway, I don't think that cutting will do as much as you are hoping for in regards to providing you with the relief you are looking for, especially based on my experience (been doing it for nearly a decade up until recently). There are probably much more effective alternatives to relieve mental pain that don't come with the risks and stresses and cutting does and that are better long-term solutions.

You don't feel like you're hurting yourself when you're cutting. You feel like this is the only way to take care of yourself.
