I bought zantac ranitidine just to be sure. I have bicarbonate also, but apparently it is not as effective.

That's true. But it would be better to do some research about the acidic effects of SN. Ranitidine and bicarbonate works in a different way and you should take the substance at the right time to get full effect of antiacidity. You should be more careful when taking the bicarbonate because its effect not lasts as long as ranitidine's does.
