As I know sodium nitrite is turning to sodium nitrate after being exposed to air for 24 hrs. My SN( from aadvark172) came in a ziplock bag inside another ziplock bag in a jiffy bag. I opened the package and the big ziplock bag, but didn't open the little ziplock bag the SN was, as I was constantly touching and crumpling it( to check are there any clumps) withought opening the ziplock bag and putting everything back inside together. Now after a time i read on thing forum about SN oxidation and that the clumps might be caused because of it and decided to check the SN again. I touched and crumpled it inside of ziplock bag without opening it and found that powder is more hardened now than before. Is it possible that in any way my SN has turned to nitrate because it got hardened, but I dont know how can it be exposed to air if i didn't even open the ziplock bag, but it got hardened or it is all fine ?
