• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

There is only 1 absolute truth.
Power is above all else.

Some undeniable truths:

Being "right" a.k.a logical is not that big of a deal.
You could be doing everything right, people still can and will hate you. (Think of Jesus. Even if you don't believe in him. I don't. But the scenario is pretty realistic. A "perfect" human today would be made to seem the worse by the media and live in hell until he dies.)

You could be right, and end up worse than before being right. You likely will.

Just how slaves who were better than their masters were raped/tortured/killed.

Being obedient and compliant is more important than being right if you want a "decent life".

Power is all that matters.

There is only 1 absolute law.

Power does what it wants.

The rest is human made stuff. And if they are made by humans just like that, they can be taken just like that.

You have no rights. I have no rights.
At least, not like you wish to believe.

Depends where you start.
It is almost impossible for a peasant to become a king.

It is very easy for a prince.

I think life is very easy. It's the tedious grind and, in my case, lack of genuine friendship or family that makes it that much harder.

I'm hoping taking a lot of antidepressants will help me not care about my horrible existence and possibly future.

I care about you. And would be a true friend to you.

It is hard to find true friends...but you can do it.
Maybe 1 in 2000 average people.
Maybe it takes 1 in 20 homeless people..

But if you look for them, you will find people who care about you.

Having power over oneself is the big one .
It all starts there I think.

I've felt out of control most of my life ...

Establishing a firm sense of belonging in oneself , and a high sense of self worth ...

Those processes are developed by mirroring primary nurturers ...

I think that is where a lot of disempowerment comes from .

Being reared in an environment of powerlessness.

The acceptance of oppression .

That's my take on it anyway .

edit to add :

Then , the perversion of 'loyalty' to the oppression , 'loving big brother' ...
Thats the oppression sustaining feed back loop.

I have to disagree. First of all, happyness is dependent on multible factors and therefore can't "just" be achieved by gaining power.
Furthermore, for power to be above everything else, one would have to believe in the existence of objective value. Sure our human nature leads us to prioritize values as power and physical well being but that doesn't mean that they actually "matter". You also say that: Being obedient and compliant is more important than being right if you want a "decent life". Yet many people choose great struggles and even death over the possibility of a good life, because their moral values (or any other value) is more important to them than their physical well being, which shows that subjective values can differ, not everyone cares about power. And after all: what does all that power one may have matter as soon as you die?
Compared to the extends of space and time that we know of, the life of a peasant, the life of a great emperor and the entire existance of humanity all seem to be just as inconsequential.

Unless you believe modern science where it is predicted humans will be able to cure most diseases soon and live over double the lifespan slowing aging, merging with machines and possibly becoming "immortal" in the next 500 years. Or way sooner.

EDIT: I don't know what to believe.
But fuck that. I'll ctb before it happens, thankfully.

Or the fact that it's predicted that humans are destroying the environment and WW3 is a likely occurrence where all human life will finally be extinguished. And who would want to live that long? And to what end? At best colonize and travel the universe? Hogwash.

One of the most important messages of the life of Jesus is that he never gave in to "power". He was too strong in his positive aspects (goodness, holiness, love, asceticism. etc.) to give in to the "power" that surrounded him, corrupted his society and ultimately killed him.

There is a loss of oneself—of any decency or self respect—when you choose to follow whatever is powerful at the present time in your surroundings. It takes a very strong person to say "fuck this horrible abusive illogical shit", be completely finished with it all and refuse to participate—even if that means death. That's one of the messages of Christ : never give in to systems/people/ideas that you know are wrong.

I never said happiness is dependent on power.
People can be happy with whatever they want.

Also about the "decent life" thing I meant that having food, house, heat, clothes..average life.
Also it is in quotation marks because I don't feel it is actually decent at all.

Of course many say "fuck you" to authority because their morals matter more. They do end up tortured and killed. Wouldn't call that a decent life they lived.

Yes it is extremely hard. Especially for ones who are not perfect beings. The bible is a story after all.

But some people have done what jesus did. Stand up for what they believe in no matter what.

I do however respect the jesus character.

This is very true, and there are still many people that need to realize this. People should use energy for other things than being right to prove themselves.

Being obedient and compliant is more important than being right if you want a "decent life".
In a professional environment, being right more often than being wrong obviously means you are good at the work you are doing. It's somewhat important. Being compliant and flexible makes things go smoothly. Employers can sometime push more work out of people by making them feel unaccepted, or by threatening by kicking you out. However, if you are good enough for the job, you don't need to be that compliant and can have the bargaining chip for yourself. Sometimes the feel to need to be compliant is just in your head. I've lost the article (wikipedia), but there is a common cognitive bias that makes people feel inferior in a bargaining situation.

I think that in life, there's a lot of bargaining. If you are being overly obedient and compliant to make sure you won't lose any opportunities, you'll get bad trades, your compliance will get abused. But you need to learn the situations in which it's appropriate to bargain.
