  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Watch what it does to your thyroid: Zoloft can affect it, if it makes you extremely sluggish, tell your doctor. When I took it, I felt like my thyroid issues were back. Little did I know it can actually cancel out your thyroid medication or just make your thyroid slower. My doctor at the time had to research it. That would be my 2 cents.

It's a risky business, repeatedly going on and off an SSRI may sensitize your nervous system and you might be more at risk of a serious adverse reaction, prolonged withdrawal or PSSD which believe me, you don't want. It's so good that you are in recovery and getting professional help, but as someone who was very severely harmed by psychiatric drugs and not warned about the risks (which doctors usually don't unfortunately) i urge you to please consider very carefully whether you could use a drug-free treatment option for depression. They can work just as well if not better than the drugs.

I thought that since i had no problems with side effects the first time, i'd be fine a second time and little did i know that i was actually more at risk having already been on antidepressants before. If i were you i would count my blessings that i was able to get off the drug with no problems and never touch them again.

Can you ask your doctor if there are any other options available, like psychotherapy, art therapy, any kind of group activities or counceling? I'm so so glad you are seeking help for your suicidal feelings!

The first time i had no side effects on the drug, just the brain zaps if i forgot to take it, and nothing major when i quit. I had a lot of trouble coming off it the second time, it took many years and slow tapering and still couldn't get totally off it. I had major fatigue, trouble standing up (orthostatic intolerance), trouble sleeping and lots more. The full-blown PSSD is much worse than that, you can look it up. Then my doctor upped the dose a third time and a disaster struck, i got activation syndrome (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activation_syndrome) which is really horrible, zero sleep, akathisia etc. and it led to me being hospitalized.

I don't want to scare you but i think people deserve to know the risks & give informed consent before starting on these drugs that can be hard to come off of. A lot of people are fine on them (like i was for a long time) but when it goes wrong it can be really bad. If i could go back in time i'd never take any psychiatric drugs, there are more holistic and safe treatment options. Let me know if you are interested in more information about them and i can look things up.

Completely agree with @oro. These meds are nothing to mess around with and I was also harmed more than once by them. I would try everything else first, other than chemicals. Look at your diet, reducing sugar, getting more proteins and good fats, slowly eliminating caffeine if you have anxiety (a big trigger), getting exercise, etc. I wish I could turn back many years and tell myself never to put any chemicals into my body unless required (like antibiotics and even then, got to be careful). It wasn't psych drugs this time, costing me my life but a pharmaceutical nonetheless. I've seen too many pharma harmed and it's a risk.
