• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It is absolutely pathetic as a late 20s person but my plushies are one of the only sources of comfort available to me. I've been clutching my dragon stuffie for hours tonight as I've absolutely bawled my eyes out. I have some pathological inability to form deep connections with other people so this is basically what I have to resort to. At the same time it makes me feel guilty because using this as a coping mechanism feels like it's holding me back in some way, like it's keeping me stuck with some childish dependence on soft, inanimate things. I don't really see it changing any time soon though.

Don't feel a shame. I'm 33 and literally have a room full of plushies. As long as they bring you comfort.

I have a ton of plushies too, and I rely on them more than I'd like to admit as well. You aren't alone in this.

I'm in my 30s, as well as my partner, and we both love our plushies. We have a whole closet area dedicated to them (very small living space so can't have them out). They have names and personalities and it brings us a lot of comfort

Stuffed animals are awesome. They can't argue, shout, or talk back, or abandon us. And if you're affection starved, it's so nice to be able to feel the touch of something soft and snuggle up with it, without the fear of judgement. These things can hold a lot of sentimental value to us and there's no shame in liking them as an older adult, even though there is a lot of conditioning to make us feel otherwise.

I don't know if this would be a good idea, but maybe those who'd like to could share some pictures of their plushies? I wouldn't mind sharing a few of mine if anyone is interested

-Editing to say that I realized I've sent photos of my plushies with people who could recognize them and so I can't share. I'm sorry :(

Plushies are one of the few things that bring me comfort, to the point that my plan to ctb includes me cuddling a big seal plush as I pass on. There's nothing wrong with them bringing you comfort, that's what they're for!

22 year old here, purchased a moderately expensive stuffed animal earlier this year from a small but high quality company. It's so personal to me I don't even say the animal, but it's definitely not the common ones (Bear, Fox, Cat, Dragon, etc.). I've all but cried with him, and significantly helps with processing traumatic memories.

It's hard to shake off the embarrassment at times, but at the same time that's what it's there for, to comfort you and provide a sense of safety from life's stressors. They may be most often seen with children and childhood, but there's many adults who have a stuffed animal you don't know about.

As long as you are able to seperate the stuffed animal from your work life if you have a job or doing anything professional, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Everybody deserves something that gives them peace, love, and security. It's there for your emotions.

Heh, I do keep that side of myself private, but I absolutely would take him everywhere with me if there weren't any stigma. I am a little jealous when I see kids lugging their stuffed animals around in public so freely -- even when I was younger I didn't have that opportunity. But I have enough sense not to do that :)

If it gives you warmth and all the small things you need, why be ashamed? Personally I used to cry into one in the past now I just use a blanket.

When I was working from home, I had my dragonite plushie prominently sitting behind me. So during google team meetings, all my colleagues saw him and I didn't care.

I'm 22. I don't know what I would do without them. I have openly requested to my family when I die, no matter what or how - I want my dearest plushie to be buried with me, the one I got as a gift the day I was born, and have never gone or traveled without him. Sometimes when I'm really down and desperate of just ctb, I think about how it would be to no longer be able to hold my plush one day. It's a scary feeling.

If some stuffed animals get you through the day, more power to you.

It's better than being a boomer and told that a wife and kids would make you whole, only to find that that is BS. Fortunately no kids for me, but two failed marriages.

This but only have a sex doll remained irl.
I found it a total loser cop out for only having an imaginary friend where you completely isolated for eternity. I found suicide is more acceptable than living like a rotten loser where normie society superior gigachad will hunt you down eternally to make you socially dead when exposed.

Current stuffies at 23 years old in size order:

Big winnie the pooh, big Disney stitch, big bunny, big toothless from httyd, big nyanko sensei from natsume's book of friends, Disney Merida and Mulan, mouse, donkey, Ermintrude the cow from the magic roundabout, penguin, geshia girl, totoro, Yukio from yuri on ice, ditto, eevee and rowlet pokemon, crab squishmellow, cupcake, red crab, sparkly shark, rat, alya tikki and plagg from miraculous ladybug, tiny frog.

And I absolutely need and want more. I don't care if I'm too old for them. Let yourself enjoy childish things, get as many stuffies as you want.

I have plushies too even though I'm not emotionally attached to them, I just have them to decorate my room. I'm 29. My limerence over my favorite artist is what keeps me alive though and society can be judgmental about this of course. I feel ridiculous when I look at myself through other peoples lens but then again it's their problem not mine. In your case especially, if it just helps you cope and navigate through life and gives you joy there's absolutely nothing wrong, on the contrary 🤍 it's good that you're still able to find joy and meaning

I would actually like to know where I might find some plushies, if anybody has recommendations. Not sure if it'd be against the rules.

Since a traumatic event almost one year ago today, I've slept with a Yoshi plushie that I won at a carnival many years ago. I'm in my mid-twenties, a guy as well, so it's like having double the societal stigma.

I think Count Dooku once said, "Twice the degen, double the stigmuh."

My mother suggested that I make my room look... more mature, or adult, or whatever. I'm fine with getting some new posters, and not because I'm worried about anybody seeing them but I'm just tired of looking at them. However, I am not too old for comfort. It's a great sign of societal sickness, this outright unscientific belief that there is an age in which we are somehow, magically, inexplicably too old for the human need of physical touch. I've given up on romance, so a plushie is my next best option.

Anyway, I would really like to know where I might find some quality anime plushies? I'd also be interested in quality plushies for games like the Persona series, and just popular games in general. I've tried Googling but I get anxious because a lot of sites just seem kind of shady, I can't tell what's official merch and what's not. I plan on getting a fox plushie because it's my spirit animal, but I can probably just find one at a major retailer and be satisfied with that.

Etsy's not the cheapest option but I've found a pretty good variety of stuff on there!
