The prejudice against suicide and suicidal people is relentless and deeply ingrained within this society. It is very safe to assume that anyone you meet is extremely against suicide and full of hatred towards suicidal people. It's incredible to hear people talking about the torturous things suicidal people should have to go through without thinking badly about themselves. It always saddens me when I see someone recalling deeply traumatic experiences at the hands of others, and them ending their story with anti-suicide platitudes, effectively throwing other suicidal people under the bus and shaming them for remaining suicidal. It does seem like every crevice of this world is built like a prison, to avoid any chance of escape and to manipulate people into staying here. Even people just talking about suicide is censored, even though it's something I think about extensively every day, I'm not allowed to be myself for fear of persecution and hatred. Suicidal people are repeatedly encouraged to think of themselves as mentally ill and to turn themselves in to be abused by the system. Despite the system's whole purpose being to forcefully prevent suicide rather than help anyone, everyone keeps advocating for the harmful treatment and services it provides. It's strange because even people who seem to have no idea about suicide know exactly which platitudes, hotlines and dangerous services to recommend. Is this hell?
