• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

"Euthanasia advocate Philip Nitschke has created a 3D-printed suicide machine that allows users to administer their own death in a matter of minutes.

Called Sarco, the futuristic-looking machine features a coffin-like sealed pod with transparent panels. It sits on top of a raised platform that leans at an angle.

By pressing a button on the inside of the pod the machine floods with liquid nitrogen, an unregulated substance that can be easily purchased.

This lowers the oxygen level within the capsule, making the user feel "slightly tipsy" before falling unconscious and ultimately, dying."

I wonder if anyone has used that. I'm sure he is flooded with requests. It's a box with a window basically.

It would never be allowed in my country, as humans want to so disgustingly prolong suffering as much as possible. But allowing the option of a death so straightforward and peaceful would be such a relief, if people are able to access it then I envy them.

Suicide should be as straightforward as painlessly pressing a button, it's evil how humans want to make it so people really have to struggle to cease existing on their own terms. Inventing something like this is really compassionate and ideal, allowing it would prevent so much torment in this hellish and futile existence.

Would be more practical to just make a giant Ziploc body bag rather than 3d print this meme coffin.

Its about as real as the diePod or suicide booth.

The linked article was published in 2019 May—over 4 years ago!

Anyone (e.g., Exit International members), have any recent news on when Sarco pod will have its maiden voyage? Last I heard that's to take place before the new year. Doing it during the holidays will be in bad taste IMO.

The most recent news I see from Exit on Sarco is in their podcast from 2020.

In the article it states that 'By pressing a button on the inside of the pod the machine floods with liquid nitrogen', but isn't liquid nitrogen -200 °C..?
Maybe the wording isn't the best but it really confuses me on how this machine works...
I didn't know liquid nitrogen could take away oxygen from air...
Never studied too much chemistry tho, so there's that...

And what did it say? When is "maiden voyage"?

Yeah, liquid nitrogen will freeze tissue to where it can shatter like glass. It's nitrogen gas.

I'm pretty sure it's a small amount of liquid nitrogen which quickly expands to gas, doing the work of flushing the oxygen. The use of liquid nitrogen is as an alternative to gas canisters releasing, as this would be very noisy.
(Update: the podcast verifies this recollection.)

I'm listening to it again now. I don't recall any dates given, but will share if it comes up.

Update:
The most specific info I got on first voyage is that Nitschke said it will first be used in Switzerland. No time specified. The episode does hint at the various aspects they're still working on that is extending development - development of an AI to test cognitive capacity (a requirement in Swiss law).

Isn't Philip Nitschke the man linked to 'Exit' and the PPH? In which case- they have very strict guidelines I believe on who is able to get access. I doubt we'll be seeing them on Ebay/Amazon any time soon! Maybe ok if you qualify- although 'ok' isn't the right word really- they only want people who are suffering terribly I imagine. Maybe we'll start to see them used more in the assisted suicide clinics. I wonder if they're cheaper- not needing a physician to operate although- presumably they would have procedures in place if for some reason it didn't work.
