  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

There is a limit to the title length so I had to shorten my title to fit. My title is actually "Why is suicide looked upon as mentally ill, but if the same person commits murder, they are just evil?"

Before r/SS was banned by reddit admins and what not, there was an rather interesting thread discussing that society views people who commit suicide as mentally ill, irrational, but if the same people go commit murder or other crimes, they aren't mentally ill or incompetent, but rather just evil. I don't really understand the whole logic behind it, except that maybe decide to pick and choose?

It almost seems as though they are just picking and choosing which cards and labels they want to assign. Even in the recent tragedy in the news as well as other atrocities, a lot of people jump to the wagon of those people aren't mentally ill, they knew what they were doing were wrong, we should execute them, death penalty, etc.

However, for suicides, people say the exact opposite, like those people are mentally ill, not rational, cannot make a sound decision, mentally incompetent, etc. There is another topic here about the death penalty and pro-lifers but that's another topic altogether.

People who do murder have something wrong with them. But I'm thinking what people are saying is killing someone else is evil, because you took their life without their consent.

So if someone ctb, they did it with their own consent. They wanted to die.

In situations like mass shootings, the person has killed people who wanted to live. The gunmen are certainly mentally ill. But they're also evil because they hurt and killed other people.
