• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

The Cat Lady is really good. I still think about it sometimes even though I watched the play-through a couple years ago.

Both Nier and Planescape are awesome. Nier was so unexpectedly good, I almost always quit when games make you re-do areas you've already done, but i was just so hooked on it.

Xenogears isn't necessarily a suicide game but it definitely deals heavily with the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. I really recommend it if you liked those themes in Planescape. My favorite game of all time. I'm not sure if it holds up if you dont have the nostalgia factor associated with it like I do but every time I replay it i feel like its fresh as hell.

Silent Hill 2 is about death in general, but suicide plays a big role particularly. I revisit it when I'm particularly depressed because I haven't come across another game or anything that distills so well the agony and dread of feeling like death is always following you. It was so great to finally have a piece of media reflect my daily reality.

Suicide Guy is an obvious one I haven't seen mentioned yet. It's a fun little puzzle game where you find creative ways to kill yourself.

Games about death and the afterlife though, there are sooo many.

The LISA series deals with themes of suicide, especially LISA the Painful. All of the games have death as a prominent theme as well.

Popping into this thread again --- but forgot to mention Lewis' story in What Remains of Edith Finch. It's only a short segment of the game, but it was very relatable.

Spoilers below!

I loved that game.

Spiritfarer is beautiful too . Not so much about suicide but death- you play the ferryman escorting their souls. Never cried so much from a game! You really feel like you say goodbye to each character and the music is really moving. It's actually a building game overall but there's plenty of story telling too.

The BIT.TRIP Hexalogy (Beat, Core, Void, Runner, Fate, Flux)

Specifically Fate and Flux, The first four are about the protagonist's life, Fate and Flux are about his demise (sacrifice and emotional turmoil) and after death journey. There's no vocal story, rather a visual one.

Missed messages, this game holds a special place in my heart. It is simple and short and still manages to carry sich deep meaning.
