technique for getting rid of intrusive negative thoughts

Discovered this while doing ACT therapy.

Let's say you have an obsessive negative thought that you're ugly.

If you say out loud the word "ugly" over and over for 60 seconds, the thought loses its power over you and fades away.

you have to say it out loud, though
