• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

..is driving me insane.

Life is extremely short, yet we live as if we were immortal.
The birth lottery decides whether your short time here is fun or not.
There is no reason to achieve anything because by the time you get a tiny bit of space to enjoy it you will be closer to death than birth.
There is no reason to do anything at all.

Is suicide the logical conclusion of evolution? A brain realizing its existence is pointless?

Personally I always go for permanence in everything. But this permanence is really short. Years go by in the blink of an eye.

This complete lack of meaning hurts my brain.....
In another thread I answered "Enjoyment" asked for meaning. But that still makes no sense. You build and build and build and then you're dead. Hitler and Gandi are both just as dead. My abusers will be as dead as kittens and koala bears will be.

Life seems to be nothing more but distraction....

Are you an existential nihilist? I am, but I've spotted no others here.

We are. Literally a collection of precisely configured atoms which will eventually succumb to entropy just as a fire will.

This is deep.
I agree though - life is short; what's the point. Few people actually feel 'happiness' as everyone keeps striving for more and more of something life wont let them have.
I personally believe in rebirth and all that jazz - but when I truly think about it I could be put back in another human body living another pointless life. It would be a sad loop...forever.

I really try not to be but with every passing year I seem to see through more patterns and find less and less distraction that works.. I'm a builder. Impermanence is killing me. If we lived to 1000 years at least. Maybe then trying would be worth it. Although humans would probably just abuse this too.

I believe some people are actually happy, or at least able to create meaning for themselves. I'm not implying they're normatively "better", though. Just different. For these people life is tragically short, and many of them want to find ways to extend it indefinitely, or maybe be brought back to life by advanced technology in the future.

Suicide isn't the categorical imperative, I'm afraid. But I reject Kantian ethics anyway :p
