  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I've decided to slowly begin my road to recovery for now. I honestly don't know how long it will last but I'm going to put forth some effort. I've decided as a good first step that I will be ending my consumption of alcohol.

I think this is the best option for me currently but I'm also keeping the alternatives open. I appreciate any and all support I've received from this site and everyone involved. I will continue to contribute in various different capacities.

If anyone has any advice or resources they'd like to share I'd be greatly appreciative. Thank you all again for being like a family to me!

Thank you all so much for the support and kind words! It really means alot to me.

I'm still very much on the fence about this and it may be a bit premature. But I'm hoping some positive reinforcement and appropriate steps may move me forward in this direction. I suppose time will tell but it won't hurt to atleast try.

That's a wise way to approach recovery. Take it easy, no pressure and see where it leads you.

Thanks for the heads up. But the Scottish in me says otherwise hehe. I've always been immune to withdrawal from practically everything, alcohol included.

That's a good skill to have lol

For me anything physical lasts about 3 days. Then, I feel extra depressed, tired or whatever fluctuating emotions I have for 2 weeks. After that is when it settles down.

Hey, good to hear, you are giving recovery a try. Also a fellow Scot, good to know. Just be careful if you are withdrawing off a lot of alcohol, seizures and shit can be involved. I used to work in addictions in prisons and rehabs so have seen first hand how extreme alcohol withdrawal can be. I wish you luck, we are all here for you.

One more attempt on life.

Hey it's good to know we are on the same similar boat with a likely same direction...
I've been in drug rehabs and yes , today I might drink 1,2 beers every now and then, but weed or pills during recovery have been nothing but a mistake....

I do hit the gym every morning, or at least try, and its definitely a healthy, mind , body routine ....

I think also having, creating goals, and accomplishing tasks to reach them its healthy

I'm beginning to have a relationship , it's not easy two weeks knowing each other and we've fought or debated 4 times over the phone... but she's still into me and me into her, sure somehow that's gonna help, she ain't the woman i was aiming for but hey... at the moment I'm taking any sweet nice girl who's into me.

Last but not least, there's this genius guy, Rafael Echeverria, he's one of the sources of so many transformation , leadership programs other worldwide.

He studied, researched and concluded that the combination of words we use and how we tell our stories and how we use words in our thinking has an effect over our internal reality, and this is in my opinion much more important and stronger than any therapy with psychologists I've had in twenty years.

I mean and want to say learning and doing a effort to tell the story of ourselves as that of a champ and not that of a victim is crucial in our well being.

I am, was, a member of A.A. and yesterday I visited and joined the meeting and hearing people talk confirmed what I suggested above, people telling them stories as victims of despair they might feel they are releasing some pain, and that maybe fine, but when they hold on to that story they live very poor lives. I've seen it and now confirm it.... this from years of experience in AA meetings.

If you receive any other good suggestion, please share! And best of luck sir

I wish you peace, luck and success on your path.

Quitting alcohol has certainly helped me a lot as of late. Also getting out more, being more active physically and forcing myself to be around/interact with people IRL.Even if its just perfect strangers.Just little obvious things to get the ball rolling. The journey of 1000 miles begins with 1 little step, right?

Good luck Brick. As a tee total alcoholic I can definitely recommend giving it up.
Alcohol is just another way of taking the dark path. A quick fix that you pay for in the long run.
For me it was fun and it fixed me and that was addictive but now I'm here and it's all down to booze.
I can't offer you tips really as I stopped cus I had to. I still miss beer and it making me feel happy for a little while. It's really easy to slip back into it. Depressed. Booze. Stress. Booze. Happy. Celebration booze. Just the one.
Be careful and see it for what it is if you are tempted - an illusion.
I think you will be okay.

Thank you all for the incredible outpouring of support! I don't know what I'd do without you guys.

I'm still trying to walk the road to recovery and I'm having some mild success in doing so. Trying to force myself to remain positive and stay busy.

So far my recovery is going well. I find my SI is starting to increase and my suicidal ideations are becoming less prevalent. I'm scared of losing my ideations though as they're a bit like a drug or security blanket.

I need to find something to fill the void that I'm creating. I know this will be a life long battle and I never expect to be fully recovered. I guess I just need to find a delicate balance.
