in lieu of the crackdown on obtaining peaceful methods, ie SN, i'm at a loss. i just can't fathom the fact that so many people wholeheartedly believe this is the correct thing to do.
fund healthcare, mental health support, and provide compassion and autonomy to those who are suffering? no, no. let's ban all comfort and ease so these undesirables have to put some elbow grease in. then we'll know that they're sure. send the news outlets to shame them for endangering the ones we want while we're at it.
it's so unbelievably backwards. passing the bill against SN in the US feels like a way for the gov to preserve as many workers as possible. they hide behind the guise of 'caring' for the youth, but at this point i have no faith in their intentions. they know a good chunk of us wouldn't be here if we were allowed the luxury of a choice that doesn't have the potential to go terribly wrong.
the radio silence, impersonal generic messages, and complete lack of preventative measures for most that are hospitalized for an attempt all lead to a glaringly obvious conclusion. this farce is just a safety net to catch people that are making an impulsive decision.
this feels like their way of giving us the coldest possible greenlight. "i don't care how you do it, just don't drag other people down with you."
