And it's not just the governments and elites. There are all kinds of regular people getting convinced by far-right ideas demanding them to be implemented. I've been seeing, and fighting against, these people online since 2010. There are various pipelines leading to far-right ideologies and various ways where these ideas are planted slowly in all kinds of movements that were originally not far-right before 2008. I remember when there was still a clear distinction between regular conservatism, free market libertarianism and far-right lunacy. But those lines are now totally blurred.

This is another reason I'm not excited for the future.

Yes, I agree, it's very scary. Particularly when you look at the statistics around how young men feel and vote. Gen Z men / boys, at least in much of Europe, have much more regressive views on women and minoritised peoples than millenial men when you look at the stats.

And it's not just men of course. Look at how many (esp white) women voted for Trump.

A friend of mine was telling me about his visit to Greenville, SC this past summer (YES, 2024!!!) He talked about how much prejudice he heard just in passing from YOUNG (millenial and Gen Z) couples and people. Overhearing things like, "...I like him. He's FOR segregation. I would love to return to those times." "I'm just so sick of all of these immigrants. Look, I like that you're willing to mow my lawn, but I don't want you here. Get out of my country." "I'm so tired of my kids having to be nice to blacks."

Things like that. This country, in particular, seems to be headed towards new age Jim Crow. And people are very on board with it. Those are just a few of the external factors that make me glad I'm leaving before 2025. A pro-lifer can drivel about possibilities all they want, humans have decided to wholesale devolve. I don't want to be here for that. They can stay here and be positive in a shit filled toilet.

I don't doubt it. It's probably just the same in the North. I suppose people have just kept a bit silent since the 60s, but the racism never even left. Pro-lifers can't tell us that "we are loved" when such shit exists.

It's so scary. People really have no idea what's coming. Humans have decided to full-on devolve. I'm sure, after some time, some semblance of civilization may come about again. However, not before what's coming happens. I shudder to think of the coping advice pro-lifers will have for people who try and stick it out.

Too few of us appreciated how rare and special it is to be truly free. That's a fairly recent development in the span of human history. Maybe it was just an aberration, and this is the way things are supposed to be. I don't know. I'm with you on wanting to end it all because of it. I've had my fill of humanity's drama and chronic inability and unwillingness to cooperate and make intelligent and productive decisions.

I kind of find this hard to believe.

This is pretty much what the left will say to keep racism alive, and make it seem like all white people are racist.

I'm not sick of immigrants. They are the ones who entered legally and went through the hoops to do so. What I am sick of, is the illegal aliens who cross the border and expect to be treated better than US citizens.

Never have I heard the comment "I'm so tired of my kids having to be nice to blacks."... I live near Greenville SC, and I'm in Greenville 5 days a week for work.

And people really don't think things can get that bad. You even hear people say it. "I don't think it's going to be THAT bad. Maybe just isolated skirmishes of violence. But not a full-on collapse.
