It will just send you to the hospital. Never do that

I almost died from this as a teenager (not a suicide attempt, just medical abuse when I was inpatient at a residential treatment facility). I was about 115lb at 5'3" at the time, and hadn't eaten anything in a few days, so drinking a large quantity of water basically flushed all the remaining electrolytes out of my system, resulting in significant cardiac problems. It was pretty uncomfortable, I wouldn't say painful, but uncomfortable for sure. I had severe orthostatic intolerance, I couldn't stand or even sit upright without losing consciousness and my hearing and vision kept fading out. I was also very nauseous. If I hadn't been taken to the ER, I would have died that night (that's what the staff there told me, anyways).

I wouldn't really recommend this as a suicide method, mostly because of how uncomfortable it is and the fact that it will take at least several hours for you to die. But it can kill you, and water is easy to access, so there are definitely worse ideas.

I've tried this before and you'll just throw up all the water

Not really reliable.

Its quite uncommon. But I believe what happens is it throws off salt balance in your body. It causes brain swelling I think.

People that have died this way consumed large quantities of water in a short amount of time. Think your daily intake inside 20 mins. type thing. You're probably looking at vomitting, headaches, seizures I'd imagine.

I'm thinking it really would be quite different from person to person on how much water is needed.

I could be off, I just remember reading about a few cases where it happened. One was a parent who died drinking water as part of a contest to win a game machine (i think it was) for their kid.

It can work but don't try it.

What happens is: you drink too much water, your electrolyte content in blood is diluted and electrical signals cannot function properly, this makes your muscles (including heart) not work as intended.

Where's the problem? Too much water dilutes sodium in blood, and now water is gonna be attracted or drawn to into your cells cause now the sodium concentration on cells is way higher so water wants to go there. This makes your organs swell up, including your brain. That's why it is a bad idea.

Overdosing on table salt or overdosing on water can both kill you, but it will feel horrible. So don't do it.
