So, lately I figured something new out. Apparently, showering and working out make me fall into some kind of 'depression', and worsen my overall mental state. I get mood drops, dizziness and some other unpleasant symptoms. First, I was only aware of it occurring after workouts. After some time I noticed, that when else I got mood drops, they were actually brought on by showering. Oh yes.
I investigated this more, and noticed that it seems to begin either between sets, or when lying down, or resting after the workout. So... this somehow must be related to blood circulation. So I assume that it is a drop of blood pressure/circulation, in combination with a 'battered' brain.
This is no exaggeration. I feel seriously sad after showering. At least I've got it figured out now. I try to walk around and stay on my two legs. After about an hour, my state normalizes, as much as possible.
Anyone else experience something like this? It's so shitty.

Something like this, sometimes, yeah. For the purely-physical, drinking electrolytes - gatorade, coconut juice, etc - or herbs like licorice root help some. But for me just as much of it is horror about things that make me more physically engaged, feeling like whenever I do so I'm already up against an overwhelming force and I just want to shut down...

I get depressed more after showering and doing 'positive' things too. For me, it's the fact that none of it really works. Also, I feel like I'm so thin skinned that showering is actually painful...not in the physical sense of acute pain, but it's a salient kind of pain I can't really find the words to describe. It's like it brings me more into the world when my mind is screaming to pull away from the world, because it all seems like suffering. I can feel this tension around moving about the world, it hurts to move around when my mind is telling me to 'freeze'; it's not normal pain though, it's emotional pain that manifests in physical ways but it's a 'ghost' pain, not stabbing, acute sensations.

I actually prefer acute pain because I can take something for it. With this emotionally derived pain that somehow extends throughout my body, it's impossible to trick myself out of it. I meditate, have tried soo many medications for it in the past, tried self-medicating for it too. Still it remains, and it's starting to make me question my sanity. My mind is too fucking clever to fool with rituals or even medications, it knows this is somehow a punishment I must adhere to. I never believed in past life karma before, but I'm starting to think I must of done some terrible things in a past life.

We might not have the exact same scenario going on, but it seems somewhat close. And it hurts worse when you try to explain it to someone who tells you to open up to them, only to say, "you just have to push through it, and it'll eventually work!". I haven't stopped pushing through for long periods of time. I keep forcing myself to do positive things, but when it doesn't seem to help, it makes me hurt worse.

Sometimes I get a drop when the adrenaline and endorphins drop after working out. When I'm working out I love it, I push myself, cool down, the work out some, then cool down, then keep going until I'm about to black out just because I don't want to stop the adrenalin/endorphin rush I get.

Working out never helped me. I regularly work out because I know it's supposed to help with depression but damn, it never works. It just doesn't. I never get a rush of energy, I just feel more exhausted than before.

I always tried to exercise and it never helped. Just exhausted. I figured it out though. I was doing it wrong. Not much point in doing proper exercise unless you put the right fuel in your body. No booze, no smokes, proper diet. I did none of that so all I was doing was wearing myself out.

Forgot to mention one variable that helps for a short period of time, but it's extremely uncomfortable to do, I really have to force myself to do it. If I take a cold shower for 2-3 mins it gives me a sense of calm after the uncomfortable sensation of freezing cold water being poured all over my body subsides. I think it releases endorphin's, which are endogenous opioid receptor modulators or agonists, can't remember whether they're inverse agonists, agonists, or positive positive allostearic modulators...whatever the pharmacology behind it is though, endorphin release provides a noticeable sense of calm and relaxation for about an hour or so for me. It might not work for everyone, but there is studies confirming that it is a valid method to release endorphin's.

It's good to do for me before meditation, although I hate the stabbing pain of the cold water trickling all over my body :mmm:
