• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I like the country I live in Germany. The vast majority of Germans are in favor of liberal assisted suicide laws though the lobby recently succeeded to block new liberal laws. I can somewhat understand that there are no protests about it. A fun fact: When the highest court announced a ruling in favor of liberal laws (Which the politicians in an undemocratic way opposed) the audience gave the judges standing ovation in the first time of history. Well and recently one could read in the media 90% of opinions against liberal laws. So my problem in this instance is not with the people rather with the elites.

Germans seem to be quite unfriendly internationally speaking. And damn I one of the worst ones. Lmao. My low social skills are my excuse of that.

Many Germans are hypermoralists. And maybe I am also guilty in this instance. There is a fight currently how the German foreign policy should be practiced. Guided by moral principles or rather interests? The latter one was the policy under Merkel. It is a long story but there is a fight within the government which policy should be followed. I tend to interests but I am not fully sure.

Germans are obsessed by punctuality. This is again so true for me. I became extremely anxious and kind of paranoid last week because there was the potential I would be 15 minutes too late at college. Lmao.

Okay now to some points that annoy me. The German music industry is a disaster. Our rappers are antisemites and conspiracy theorists. There are so many trash music shows on air.

Currently the right wing extreme party is the second strongest party in the country. This is really shocking for many people. Me and my friends are really concerned. But to be honest all other parties are pretty trash one scandal after another. I would never vote AfD. I would vote for any other democratic party over the AfD. However I think in other countrists the right wing extreme parties are even more popular. But something might me changing in this country. Maybe history does not repeat maybe it rhymes. They say populists get voted by people who still have something to lose. Well this applies to many Germans.

I think Germans are often described as being disciplined. At least this is the stereotype and once again it fits to me. But when I see my peers in college I have doubts about it. The Asian countries are far better (? is this really a good thing) than us in this instance.

I read in this forum that in Germany there is a lot of hidden racism behind the facade of political correctness. I know some racists and they are really horrible towars minorites. Though I don't know how widespread this is in other countries.

We have way too much bureaucracy and our digital infrastructure is a complete joke. The internet connectivity is often shit and it is a real shame. We are way too obsessed by soccer. Alcohol is way too widespread and popular to an amount that it is toxic for many people. Our train company is extremely shitty. Trains are alway too late. The opposite of the stereotype.

What are your points on your felllow countrymen?

England sucks. People pretend to care but when it comes down to making a difference people don't give a shit. You're on your own.

What's more, you're expected so suffer, to put up with appalling services and bad treatment and just keep your mouth shut. We're a very long way from ever legalising suicide. It's disgusting. So backwards. We're expected as poor people to put up with the atrocious service of the MHS for our health care needs.

We're expected to support our government and their God awful decisions and priorities. They're useless. They never try and learn from other countries. They think We're special and have good reason for doing things differently but it's all just laziness, lack of imagination, stubbornness and peer pressure to conform and be patriotic.

This country is going down. The only thing still holding us up is the money from imperial times stemming from the slave trade. Unless we totally reform, we're screwed. We're utterly backwards, relying on completely outdated principles to keep us afloat. We've cast into stone ideas which might have worked 2 or 300 years ago but are no longer fit for purpose for the masses. There needs to be a revolution

I can confirm that. Germans are quite unfriendly unless you don't really react that harshly. I once drove into a street where only the people who live in can drive into it and park but I didn't saw the sign since it was covered by a bush. I saw a old guy looking at me really angry, so I rolled down the window and said hello and asked him if I can temporary park there since I waiting for some guy who wanted me to sell his car mirror. He calmed down judging on his expression and said that I'm not allowed to be here and that I should move my car. I said calmy "oh, I didn't saw the sign. It was probably in a bad angle. However, I don't want any problems with the people who live here and the police, so I'll move my car. Thank you for warning me about this" and then I proceded to search for a parking sport down the main road and found one like 400meters away from the spot where I parked at.
I didn't want any problems and elderly people follow the "Ordnung muss sein" lifestyle.

What really pisses me off are the bicycle riders who ride on the roads where there are plenty of side roads, where you are allowed to drive 100kmh and they just ride there and cause traffic. Same thing on the highways. I saw so many idiots riding there and it's just illegal in all the countries I've been visiting.

And there are many other things that annoy me about Germany.

In Poland there are also some things that annoy me but it's mostly road rage and idiots who are drunk and want to give you money to buy alcohol from stores they're banned at.

Newest pet peeve: Brazilian people, in general, don't know how to write.

My mother edits papers and theses for medical doctors, dentists and nurses. They have no idea on how to write a paper. I had to peer review some of my colleagues as part of a class. Most people just copy and paste wikipedia, and the self authored bits are painfully obvious. I have a friend, who is not dumb, that is an Engineer and got into a Master's program, that prides himself that he can't structure his thoughts on paper.

Like, wtf Brazil?

I honestly hate everything about America. It's a country built on slavery, corporate selfishness and greed as well as false ideals of "freedom" and "liberty". There's no freedom if you have to work (aka modern day slavery) to survive, and basically become a slave to the system for the rest of your life. Pathetic. I hate how Americans are dumb and stupid. The vast majority of the American population is extremely ignorant and lack minds of their own and critical thinking skills. They're also greedy, selfish, self-interested, shallow, fake, materialistic and have no culture or class. They're all chained to the rhythm

No, I live in Europe. The us has always sounded pretty awful to me honestly. The whole country feels like a lie to me. Also, pretty sure there is no such thing as free hospitalization there. Nope, I don't think us citizens have anything to be grateful for. I'm not that naive!

America is pretty awful. It feels like a lie to me as well (because it is one). No, there's no such thing as free hospitalization in America. You must be joking. Healthcare is one of the biggest businesses; it rakes in billions each year. People are even left in medical DEBT from the cost of hospital, ambulance and medical bills

Probably; I've never been sent to one so I wouldn't know. Everything in America is about (making) money and profit, so it wouldn't surprise me. I guess we have a Scot (Adam Smith) to blame though as he was the father of capitalism. When I went to Edinburgh, I threw a coin onto his grave for good luck and I was like "why did you need to develop this system…like honestly why"

That's probably induvidual from country to country, but I'm pretty sure it's not a thing in my country. You might have to pay a small fee for some things though if you're over 18, and mostly only emergency stuff is free from my knowledge. There have been times I've went to have check-ups at the hospital and didn't pay anything though so idk.

This. Most people still don't vote AfD because the media tell them AfD bad (they are, I'm not defending those nazis), but also media tells people refugees are criminal by genetics, so they believe that too - but vote SPD, Greens or CDU because they think they are good people and AfD is for bad people. What actually happens is that people are just fucking racist and the other parties try to cater towards that and also start with anti-refugee policies.
Meanwhile, trans people get their rights and healthcare taken and people either don't care or contribute towards that because it's "just a trend anyway". I've heard so many people saying that we don't have to protect minorities because "they're a minority, why do we have to care?", like if discrimination is fine as long as it's not themselves.

100% agree that we are just expected to put up with appalling, strained, and lackluster services and be grateful for them.

No one ever wants to change anything especially as many services are run by older people who have no idea how to use modern technology or adapt to the needs of a growing population. There are many NHS martyrs who know they aren't paid enough or delivering a decent service, but don't want there to be any adaptation whatsoever to the system that would benefit them or the patients because they are terrified of change.

One of the things I really dislike about the UK is the class system and culture of obsessing over money. If someone manages to get out of poverty and start doing well for themselves, others sneer at them and turn up their noses, always insinuating it must be handed to them even if they busted arse to achieve it. No one wants to ever be seen as posh, or successful, or doing well for themselves, and being proud of any good work you've ever done or things you've achieved is seen as bragging and disrespectful. We don't celebrate people's achievements enough, instead we put them down in a jaded fashion.

I've known people who have stacked bank accounts who pretend to be poor because they think it makes them cooler or a better person, rather than simply admitting that they're middle class or not struggling. Also, constantly hearing people being rude and hateful if someone wants to spend their own money on something that makes them happy, like a fucking coffee or snack, and insinuating how they're so much better for penny pinching. This mindset baffles me because I don't see why it is anyone's business what other people spend their money on if they have it to spare. This is probably a reason why so many high street businesses are going bust, because I straight up know people who don't want to be caught buying a coffee or pastry outside cause it, "makes them look rich". Bloody ridiculous.

The biggest culture shock when I first moved to the UK (and even before bills became drastically more expensive) is that most people I know would rather freeze to death and have mold growing from every orfice of their house than turn the heating on because they think they shouldn't have to pay for heating!

I was raised in a culture where we were taught to pay bills first and then worry about leisure later, but most people I know here have a complete aversion to paying for basic necessities like heating and water and will do everything in their power to avoid heating their house, then spend that money on drink and going out. One of the worst moments for me was recovering from surgery in the dead of winter, being laid up in bed right next to the frozen window, and my partner and his family refused to turn the heating on, even though they had just bought over 100 quid worth of GAMES!

I hate at how people act so entitled and rude in the UK. It genuinely feels like people here are more hostile as a whole, especially those in position of power. I also hate the mindset that people have here. They justify the awful healthcare here because "at least it's better than America's healthcare". And, of course, they're anti suicide, even more so than other countries are as assisted suicide isn't legalised at all.

Oh, also, I don't really delve into the politics here as I think that politics is useless as a whole but the tories certainly are annoying. It's gotten so bad to where my parents, who possess toxic positivity and would justify anything bad going on in life instead of getting fed up, are getting fed up.

Another thing I don't like about the people here is how sheepish they are and are okay with everything going on as a whole. Of course people are like this everywhere but it's still infuriating nonetheless to see it happen here. The UK continues to be shit because people simply don't care enough to rebel

Aside form all of this, I agree with everything on post #3 here and they give issues which are real and annoying

My country is Poland.

Honestly, it's damn hard for me to answer this question, but I'll try.

For starters, my country is very divided. I mean the general worldview. Society has been divided by politicians. There are a lot of quarrels and Polish-Polish war. Someone will probably say that it is the same in other countries, but I am speaking from the perspective of my country.

Another thing is celebrating failures. Poland has a very rich and complicated history. We were one of the most powerful European countries. Maybe even the most powerful for some time (arguable). Unfortunately, we have had many failures that have largely destroyed the country (for example, the partitions of the country).
We celebrate too few victories and too many defeats (for example, failed national uprisings)

Another disadvantage is oikophobia. This is related to the first and second point. Very often, my compatriots, for example, consider domestic products to be much worse. This is not always true.

When it comes to everyday things, we are probably more serious than others. We lack slack.

We are also a relatively conservative country. Subjectively, I consider it a disadvantage. I'm a liberal on a lot of issues, so this doesn't sit well with me. Of course, this is a very personal opinion.

Alcohol is often glorified in our country. I consider this a big disadvantage. Alcohol has destroyed many people and many families. I don't like the approach to this topic in my country.

Of course, I could mention a few more things, but these are the first ones that came to my mind.

2. Such a profound lack of care about culture, that we've been actively destroying our own for the past few decades. We've also been destroying the culture of many European countries.

I feel like the sense of entitlement is that a lot of Brits seem to think things should be handed to us on a plate. The sense that it is inconceivable that Brits could be struggling in the world despite being a small island. I am probably misinterpreting things, and don't think I am communicating my actual thoughts particularly well (I also am super sensitive to the concept of being controversial), but being from a middle class background/area in England, that general approach grated me quite often. So maybe much more a middle class thing - not appreciating the working classes - seeing ourselves as paupers to the upper class. (I spent a lot of childhood thinking myself as working class - now I very much realise that was not the case).

Irish people are extremely indirect and never say what we really mean except in very intimate social contexts. I often hear foreigners remark that the Irish are very friendly and welcoming but it's because that's just the default way of interacting with strangers, niceness is central to politeness. There's so much that's unspoken when it comes to social interaction, the rules surrounding it are so murky I find it near impossible to navigate and I'm not autistic or anything, just a bit odd. I can't imagine how hard it is for actual autistic people.

Being "a bit odd" is a terrible thing to be though in Ireland, especially in small town or rural Ireland. Contrary to the image we have abroad of being open and welcoming, Irish people in general are extremely hostile to anyone who does things a little bit differently, whether that be style of dress or social ability (and regardless of whether or not that's something you can control). People are so cruel to anyone who doesn't fit it. Historically we've been extremely socially conservative and devoutely Catholic and that's changing now, but I find although the practice of religion is disappearing, the religious, non-questioning, reject-everyone-who-doesn't-neatly-fit-into-a-box style of thinking is very much here to stay.

- the tendency to be judgmental and a bit snobby
- being very narrow minded
- being so resistant to change and wanting to preserve tradition so bad that you end up with the second worst school system in the eu where your taught like in the 1940s, and the psychiatric system is based almost entirely on just what freud said and not on science all (its so bad that for for ex if you sh even once/restricted your food before, etc you have bpd and they recommend antipsychotics.. ) despite 99% of contries even 3rd hellholes abandonning that stuff cause it's 90% anti science bs like 70 years ago lmao. and all that when france is one of the richest and most modern countries in the world
- tendency to be critical of everything
