  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I've been really interested in the technicalities of the internet lately (hyperfixations is one of the few bits of autism I might actually like), and I was wondering what category this site would fit into. I would place it into Bergie web rather than clearnet, as it's relatively hard to come by and I believe some countries even removed it from Google search results. Or would you put in clearnet? Interested

This would be a clearnet site because it's indexed by numerous search engines. Results from this page don't aways rank very high, but it's on the first page of results for some keywords and usually shows up after a few pages of digging. You can actually see the list of search bots scanning it right now at this URL:

If a country blocks search access to this site then it would be part of the Bergie Web in that location.

Some people use really loose definitions and include "underground" sites like 4chan in the Bergie Web. In that case you might consider this site to be included as well, but such a loose definition becomes useless. There is no technical difference between all these sites as long as the content is searchable, so adding subjective criterion like "it's underground" just creates confusion and removes an important distinction about whether content can be found through search engines.
