• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I saw this question on a reddit generationally themed sub, GenX or Millennial I think. There was a spectrum on answers ranging from people that made all the right moves to those that things haven't gone so well for and are considering suicide as their "retirement plan". Pretty sad really. I guess I'm statically leaning toward the later group. I resent the boomers in my life. My father was the worst example just living at home with my grandmom that worshiped him doing random musician gigs for pocket change and drug money while living off my grandfathers legacy and my grandmom's pension all while making himself out to be a righteous poor man that the "system" held down. Now I have to pay the price for his 72 year party.

Boomers - the first generation that decided to leave their children in a worse position than the one they inherited…

I've never been able to imagine life past 30, but when I was in a relationship I started saving because I could genuinely see myself with that person.

I still contribute to my savings even now they've left me, but it's more habitual than anything. I don't think anything I could buy would make me happy.

I honestly am sort of hoping to kill myself in the short term, but if I can't I don't think I'll live to retirement. At least maybe the money can go to my parents to help pay them back for raising and allow them to hopefully have a marginally better retirement plan.

Hmmm, I wonder what kind of responses you'll get to this question on a suicide forum...

Sorry, I'm not trying to make fun of your question, I'm sure people will have interesting things to say, but I have to say I did giggle a bit while reading the thread title.

On the bright side not having to worry about pensions etc must be some kind of relief like it's kind of a silver lining. Doesn't mean much I know but honestly never asked myself that question before.

"My retirement" - sounds like a lame joke to me tbh.

Was about to say... Even if I live to the end of what my body will handle naturally I feel like the world is fucked up enough where I'll probably be fucked dry by the end. There is no escape. It will hurt to tread every path

I have a pretty good retirement plan (money). Been saving and company 401k and all that. I did miss my first 5 years though with "I'll not be alive...." but after still being here I started in. Whether or not I actually live long enough to use it my family will have the money.

I have financial retirement plans, a 401k and a few investments. I'm leaving 60% of my 401k to my dad, the rest to my children, along with my investments and life insurance. I never imagined retiring, so I've never made "plans" for that time, unfortunately. If I happen to live until then, maybe I'll buy a camper and travel the national parks or something.

My Boomer parents ask me this all the time. I remind them that I am a Millennial, I am not going to have the luxury of retiring. I will have to work until I die just to be able to afford to live. Realistically though, if I live that long, once my quality of life gets low enough I am just going to kill myself. I do not feel the need to struggle just to survive if I am not happy.

my entire working career I've saved and invested a lot of my income, and it all feels pretty pointless. I know now I don't want to make it that long anyway, so I'd like to blow some of it.

I know! That's why I posted it, I was surprised at the candid replies in the reddit sub I mentioned and it made me think of SaSu.
