• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Impossible once the mind dies there's no coming back from that
Why does no one ever return after they die to tell us what is like
Because there gone forever

Either you exist as a pattern, or you don't. All information, from the beginning of the universe, is still being sent, and just because we can't detect all of it right now, doesn't mean that we can't get to the point where we can get enough metadata from every single person who has ever existed to resurrect them all. It will take a lot of computing power, but it should be technically possible.

first thing there's nothing in existence that isn't a pattern atoms arrange themselves in patterns

the universe loses information all the time like when a person dies there brain turns into fragments of it's former self

simulating a human brain with mathematics alone is impossible, the brain works with chemicals mind uploading is aload of bullshit

reality is not a computer simulation

Why bother recreating history? If humans ever really did have the power to replicate all of the information that has ever existed atom by atom then why can't they just use that to make things better for everyone? Even if that technology is possible, the people using it would have to be incredibly idiotic or outright malicious if they don't use it to make things better for everyone instead of digging up flawed data.

Based on what, exactly?

Getting to know the past of the universe has been a nightmare for scientist because the info that survived today is minimal: everything gets transformed into something totally new, indistinguishable from the previous form, and often dispersed. And no only there's absolutely no evidence for determinism, there is more evidence against it than in favor.

Life is by all means temporary. The remains are not tied to a random ID in the form of you. Even your atoms make only sense collectively, there's also many evidence that, individually, their identity isn't defined until closely observed or as a part of a bigger cluster of them: what atoms are yours in an absurd question because they are interchangeable, you are a whole new phenomena and a result of collective pieces that have no value separately. Once the collective gets destroyed, there's no coming back, because that irreplaceable, non-duplicable formation was all you will ever be.

Why are you such a party pooper? @treestumpbootsneo suggested a fun premise. Why not just go with it?

I would resurrect Alan Turing. He committed suicide because of how society treated him as he was gay.
He was one of the fathers of computer science, and made a great impact on WWII by helping
decode the German encrypted messages.

I would resurrect him to show him the progress the LGBT movement has made.
Also would show him the phones in our pockets - computers which would amaze him.
I would like to show him how he eventually got honored and recognized despite the
way he was treated when he was alive.

Someone who enjoyed living in any case...

How about an animal? I'd love to see a Brontosaurus. Or, a Terradactyl. That would be terrifying but, awesome too. Although, a zoo would be cruel really.

Did you see that episode of Dr Who where they brought Van Gogh to see his work being exhibited at a modern day Art Gallery? That would be nice. An Artist/ Scientist/ Inventor being brought back to see how their initial findings/ work had benefitted people and led to even greater findings. Of course, it's not like they would probably remember the life they had and work they did- unless their memories were copied too.

One person I never want to hear about dying is Sir David Attenborough. He's a world treasure. If he wanted to live forever, that would be fine with me.
