• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Based on this thread from a week ago (with fun canidate descriptions written by me):

I noticed a lot of people here aren't US citizens or aren't planning on voting, but that kind of sentiment defeated the purpose of the poll. So, imagining if you *were* both a US citizen and politically active enough to vote, who would you vote for? (and why??)

I'd definitely vote for Biden if I was in a swing state although his handling of the Palestinian genocide is utterly awful. Trump is a fucking fascist.
I'd vote for a minor candidate as a mean of protesting if I wasn't in a swing state.

That's the most unsuccessful genocide of all time. Why doesn't Israel start by killing the 2 million Palestinians who are citizens of Israel and live inside Israel? Why are they still protected by the IDF? And why does Israel distinguish between Hamas terrorists and the civilian population?

It seems like its down joe cricket and trump the dictator with a cult following. I don't know how this is all gonna play out.
But Biden is TOO OLD! We CAN not have a president leading the country, in his state. Just take a look around? People don't know who's in charge in united states because the current president's health is deteriorating.

I'm not that much into politics, but for gods sake. not trump. Anyone but him.

If i were an American, i would feel so bad right now. In my book, you CANNOT tell a country that you are gonna be with them to the end, and then just drop them like a hot potato. When Ukraine gave over those nukes in the 90's? I think it was.. United states gave them securities.. Look at where ukraine is at now?

Its a bloody mess.. thats for sure. The US president should be the most powerful man in the world, and he can't get funds for ukraine...

I've heard a lot of people say this, which is an interesting perspective, but doesn't he still have the position itself to gain? If anyone is in their late 70s and knows they likely won't live for another decade, would they really care if they lost millions or billions of dollars in the process?

I don't think it is matter of money, prosecution can affect the candidate's chances of winning.

I'm surprised as well, thought there would be more liberals (or that the ratio would be higher). Lgbtq people especially tend to have higher suicide rates and skew heavily liberal, along with younger people who seem to be more prevalent here.

I also think that conservatives are happier on average.

Lol I've heard that too. I like how your source adds in the dichotomy between the idea that it's because of "social responsibility" vs not being bothered by inequality in society.

They say that Russia controls Trump from the shadows. Is America so incompetent that they let a Russian plant become president for four whole years? What's going on with your government guys.

I'm one of those weirdos who thinks Biden and his establishment are probably worse than the other abhorrent guy. I know that I don't know jack shit when it comes to that world though, so I don't think I'm going to vote at all or maybe vote third party. At this point I don't really care

I think people here are just choosing Biden because they want everything to keep getting worse so they have the extra motivation to CTB.

As I said before, I'm still voting for the Big Orange D assuming I'm even still alive by then. Not like my vote matters anyway thanks to being Californian. I honestly hope he wins just because the response to him winning would be funnier. Also he wouldn't be able to run again in 2028 so the Republicans can hopefully finally move on and find someone else. I don't know if they actually would in that situation though.

Kennedy for me!
Kennedy for me as well. Primarily because he's the only one who has addressed issues that I may face in the future. A large one being affordable housing. He said that 3 major corporations (BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard for those interested) are projected to own 40% of the single-family homes in America by 2030. You can look it up and fact check this as well. He wants to impose a tax to make this unprofitable for these big corporations to buy up all of these homes. He also wants to lower to mortgage interest rate to 3% for first time homebuyers, which will directly benefit me as a young American. He said he plans to do this by selling tax free bonds on the open market.

I do worry though, that this will increase demand further, driving up prices even more, but I don't see myself voting for the other two candidates anyways. Joe Biden isn't terrible but he went back on a campaign promise of no oil drilling on federal lands, notably the Willow Project. I have too many issues with Trump to count, and I don't agree with conservatives on virtually anything. I used to say I didn't agree with gun control, but I do now as school/mass shootings are on the rise in America and it's terrible, so I am leaning into supporting gun control more and more.

I really can't decide, I guess Joe is slightly better, especially since I'm queer and disabled, but God I'm so fucking disgusted with his actions this past year. When I think about it too hard, I kind of hope I'm dead before then lol

It's been a while since I last saw this thread, but reading interesting things in the news might be one of only a few things keeping me alive at this point

I try to shy away from talking about it in person often, but I like politics because of the potential there is to make the world a better place. I may have stopped caring a while ago about what happens in my own lifetime, but I am happy that 45 other people took enough interest to vote in the poll and discuss their ideas here.

It is through the power of ideas and their ability to change minds that we collectively have evolved over time to reach a much better place than where we once were. Thank you for being a part of it, and for giving me something to do when everything else seems hopeless. I love you all <3
