Yes. It's an act of violence to try and restrict access to exits for the less fortunate. The selfishness is from the pro-lifers. Both for their egos as you point out here in undeniable terms, and to ensure proper supply of slave labour. The lucky need the unlucky around to be high-class in comparison and to make up a bunch of bullshit about how their freewill and agency got them there and the others are therefore bad. We exist as SUPPLY. Both narcissistic supply and literal slaves.
Shakespeare knew hundreds of years ago that someone born wrong's biggest power is to deprive others the ability to lord or gloat over them:
"
I know where I will wear this dagger then;
Cassius from bondage will deliver Cassius:
Therein, ye gods, you make the weak most strong;
Therein, ye gods, you tyrants do defeat:
Nor stony tower, nor walls of beaten brass,
Nor airless dungeon, nor strong links of iron,
Can be retentive to the strength of spirit;
But life, being weary of these worldly bars,
Never lacks power to dismiss itself.
If I know this, know all the world besides,
That part of tyranny that I do bear
I can shake off at pleasure
"
- Cassius, in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar Act 1, Scene 3
It was never easier than today to kill yourself peacefully even if there are still restrictions. That's why the awareness of the fact you are an independent enlightened human being is quite important for finding a solution.
A long time during middle ages, people wouldn't have ever dared to kill themselves voluntary due to the influence of the Christian church, and the ignorance and the disability to think freely of the most people back then. And in stone age, you wouldn't have any knowledge about ctb methods and no resources to do so.
I hope these aspects allow a different view on things.
What you say it true but there are some points to consider. Biggest one: we are here in the first place. Yeah it's great to have all this enlightenment and we better be grateful we weren't born back in the day except--most of us should not have been born or put in this position. I know it's not your fault or something simply to pin on anyone, but gratitude for not being in the middle ages doesn't make us feel better about having to save up thousands of dollars to fly to Peru and beg for Nembutal or spend weeks trying to meditate and drug ourselves enough to take a shotgun in the mouth. Suicide always sounds easier than it is, I'd pay top dollar for the govt or respected organization to properly euthanize me and then it's more official and acceptable anyway.
In 2025, why aren't we being honest with those of us born shitty/wrong/ugly that hey, if you aren't born with the right set of characteristics, you are pretty much fucked, yes you have a tiny % chance at an okay-ish life but it's gonna take an immense amount of pain and suffering and hard work to even have the chance. Also, no point to get into a eugenics argument but a lot of irresponsible parents predisposed to produce children that will not prosper is allowed too easily, these parents being empowered to torture another soul without any kind of paperwork or thought process or genetic testing or consideration other than just busting a load or taking a load.
The other big point is anyone who has ever paid taxes in their life has probably more than covered the cost of their dose of pentobarbital. It should be standard issue that every citizen has it available for any point in life they decide things just aren't worth it. A birthright. Yes this is just my (extreme) opinion. It may even lead to a more peaceful world where people are cautious not to push each other too far and be more considerate of ethics and everyone's value but I doubt it (that's just my utopian wishful thinking).
Not every ugly child will turn out like Jeff Bezos. Thing with Jeff Bezos is, he is still ugly and everyone is still disgusted by him and his reputation is garbage--not because of his immoral actions (which they are, but hey it's a cutthroat world) but would the world think the same of him if he didn't look like a demonic midget phallus? He can spend all the money he wants he will never be loved and accepted by his professional prostitutes. His only hope is to live long enough to safely modify his genetic situation--there is a lot of risky experimentation to getting there. And it will always be easier to just birth new good souls vs save those of us born with the shit genes (like Jeffy); shitty attempts at a first novel are wadded up and thrown in the trash.
