  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Hi All,
I am 31 y.o. originally from Central Asia working in UK. My life at the moment is good being surrounded by kind and decent people. However the stress and trauma accumulated in me over the last years makes it hard to move on. Part of me is dead. I sleep well, I even wake up feeling content with my life. This feeling lasts before my memories come flooding in.
I tried CBTs 2 times. I don't question qualifications and professionalism of the specialists, but I am sure CBTs didn't help me at all.
After my suicidal ideations evolved from hypothermia to cutting through a jugular vein I tried to get psychotherapy via private insurance, but the telephone assessor insisted on me getting the 3d CBT despite me telling her I need a psychotherapy. She tried clarifying what do I really need a counsellor or CBT, which really confused me (it sounded as if a counsellor and a psychotherapist is the same person) and I said I will be looking for a psychotherapist in Europe instead :hmph:
I just can't believe how people can be so ignorant towards other people when a person is asking for a very specific help.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a good psychotherapist either in UK or somewhere else?

Why not go private? Just search for a psychotherapist in your area and ring them for an appointment.

Don't know the ins and outs of where you have tried but you can self refer to iapt or should be an alternative depending which trust. Guess just type in your location and iapt into Google, you should get an assessment pretty quick currently as telephone due to covid. Iapt offers more than just CBT.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will google more treatment providers. It is so unfortunate that my insurer has only one provider for its mental pathway.

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. I think CBT is just a cheaper method of treatment that the NHS have become abit obsessed with, and seen as a catch all treatment they can throw out with meds and be done with it.

Especially atm with the COVID-19 restrictions, I think that the NHS are simply having to ignore anyone who they don't consider an immediate risk, and some that are tbh. Hope you find the help you need OP :)

I haven't tried NHS to be honest. I tried CBT clinics via Aviva.
Thank you, I will keep searching :halo:
