• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Would you consider yourself religious?

Nope, but I do consider myself spiritual.

My mom says that about her self! It started with her really into angels, which I totally get as spiritual but now she has Jesus as the background on her phone. She's religious.

Atheist here

Your mom would probably burn me at the stake! šŸ˜šŸ˜‚
She would burn me first since being an ex muslim is punishable by death according to this religion. Although I have no idea as to why she would be burning you. Are you an ex muslim too?

Yes, I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried and rose again the third day, and that the Bible is 100% God's word.

Yikes! I am an old lady!! Who is that??

Here is my idol when it comes to thoughts on organized religion.

I can't figure out how to do the spoiler thing. šŸ¤¦

No, but I dated a devout Muslim for a couple of years. And studied The Quoran. I found it as interesting as I found The Bible. No, really. People think I'm being smart-ass when I say that but I'm not.

I'm what is commonly referred to as a solitary green witch.

I am agnostic. I have been brought up as a Catholic but have now become unsure if God or an afterlife exist and wish for those to not exist. I would rather after death to be non-existence tho if hell does exists then I am not as scared of it than other people. If God does exist then I believe him to be a sadist that is experimenting and playing with us. I don't see how God is loving when a world full of suffering exists.

Former Roman Catholic, current atheist. There's a really good lyric snippet from a Los Campesinos! song, 'A Psychic Wound' that I relate to a lot, though- 'Exist with Jester's privilege, secular girls with Catholic guilt.' Being secular, while still riddled with Catholic guilt: that's pretty apt.

I've never really liked the definitions of non-faith. I used to think that 'agnostic' simply meant that I wasn't sure either way. But, it's defined as: 'a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God.' That doesn't fit me. That sounds more like faith in fact.

I have no idea whether the existence of God can or will ever be proven. But- I'm sure there are in fact certain things that could happen that could persuade me to believe. Either if God decides to make themselves known or, scientists figure out where they're hiding for instance. I don't think it's impossible to know. That's an excuse the religious people use. It's more that we don't know for sure now. Whether we will in the future, I simply don't know.

So, I'm more of an atheist I suppose but, I'm not 100% sure. I maybe have more of a spiritual bent rather than a religious one though. I hugely dislike a lot about orthodox religions. Enough to make me vehemently reject them. My overall position though is- I truly don't know.

i am an atheist i don't believe anything this terrible gets created but if there was a god he wouldn't be anything like the religions describe

In quantum mechanics, particles can appear and disappear spontaneously in a vacuum. Some physicists speculate that the universe could have arisen from a similar fluctuation in a quantum fieldā€”essentially, "something" emerging from "nothing."

The universe is thought to have originated approximately 13.8 billion years ago from an extremely hot and dense point, often referred to as a singularity.

if you're looking for explanations rooted in observable evidence and testable theories. Science has the advantage of being a self-correcting process, constantly evolving as new data and insights come to light. It also provides practical applications that directly improve our understanding and interaction with the world, from medicine to technology to space exploration.

Religion, on the other hand, often provides moral guidance, meaning, and community for many people, but its explanations about the universe are usually based on faith and tradition rather than evidence.

Science builds on itself. Each discovery creates a foundation for future advancements, like how understanding gravity led to space exploration or how quantum physics leads to technologies like quantum computing

I've voted spiritual since I think I've experienced some things that made me question my atheism. I don't believe there is a God and I think we would be better off without religion.

However, I have experienced some weird things in my childhood that I have no explanation for. Some encounters where I felt a calling to go somewhere and then discovered an injured kitty, or a time when I was a child and predicted that two animals would appear killed at our doorstep.
Years later I stumbled upon cartomancy and felt that calling to me. I was very sceptic towards it so recorded my predictions expecting it to fail but they didn't, not nearly as much as expected. Statistically speaking, they are accurate too often for it to not be significant.

I have no explanation to these things but I can't deny that they existed and science can't explain them, so I think I'm spiritual.

No, not at all, I believe existence to be the most terrible horrific tragedy that serves no function but to bring and cause suffering all for the sake of it and it's all ultimately so meaningless to me. I see existence as nothing more than just waiting to die where eventually death will take away all anyway, all I hope for is to be permanently unconscious of this existence I always saw as a mistake, only eternal non-existence is desirable to me where all is finally gone and forgotten about.

I used to be a devout atheist and had absolutely no wiggle room in that, but I realised that was about as closed minded as being religious and not considering the science. I don't know what I am now, I don't think it matters, but I do enjoy how loving and accepting religious communities can be. I wish I was brought up believing in something.
