• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

was just watching a thing to do with elon and wanting to have some people move to mars. theoretically, it probably wont happen, at least not anytime soon. but if you were offered, would you do it? do you think it would help your current situation?

I can't possibly see how moving to another planet would do anything to help me. It's not erasing my memories or curing my depression or fixing any aspect of my life. It's just a change for the sake of change but it actively changes nothing.

Definitely not. First, it would require spending at least 9 months in a cramped spacecraft to get there. When you arrived you'd be living in a station that would also have to be small. There would be little privacy and a lot of interaction with other people the whole time. There would also be constant stress because the smallest mistake or failure could be fatal. As much as I'd welcome death, the ways you can die in space are particularly gruesome and painful. There would be few opportunities to return home due to the way orbits work.

Basically it sounds like a prison sentence to me, with the possibility of a horrific death on top. That's not something I'm signing up for.

Everything I've read about space colonization makes me believe that it would be ugly as hell for a VERY long time, if not outright doomed to failure. I mean, Mars is completely uninhabitable by any sort of life, so basic things like food and air would be damn near luxuries. Factor in the myriad ways to die from space exposure, the difficulty communicating with people on Earth, and the very real possibility that the entire endeavor would collapse... there's really nothing to offer.
As fucked up as Earth is, it's the best we've got for now.

No. I actually hate the thought of humans f*cking up other planets or space as much as we have the earth.

Regardless though- this sounds like a breeding programme. I imagine there would be very strict rules to fit with whatever the management team want. Including pressure for women to leave offspring to carry on the 'good' work. It's going to be cheaper for them to have babies born there rather than courier more humans there.

If I had a good life there and could leave all my problems behind - yes I would be a volunteer.

The problem I would have is I wouldn't pass the basic astronaut training .... so, moving to Mars is out of the question. I don't even need to fantasize about that.
