• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

What do you think?
If you were blind you live in darkness but be able to hear music and still able to use text to speech for a PC.
If you are deaf you cannot hear music but can shitpost better.

This is a tough one but I think I'd rather be deaf. I'd miss music an awful lot but that would be the only major downfall in my opinion.

I already have terrible vision, and I can tell you that it would be much better to lack hearing than it would be to lack your vision. We use our eyes a lot more than we use our ears in daily life.

How often do you play music?
It is a tough one I know deaf is better for general ability to live but no music is awful it is the final cope.

Rather often, I've played music for most of my life. There are some deaf musicians out there. I think at this point I could "hear" the music I'm playing without actually hearing it.

I'm deaf in one ear but I would prefer being entirely deaf than blind.
It's hard to describe/understand things when you can't/ ever seen it.

it would be absolute terrifying and isolating feeling.

I'd rather be deaf, at least you can still live a full life. IMO it's not even comparable, there is nothing worse than being blind.

This. Also if the music is loud enough, you'd still be able to feel the vibrations so it's possible one could still have the experience of listening to music they'd like.

I'd hate to lose either, but deaf even though I'd miss my family and friends voices and music, going blind would throw me over the edge and I'd probably ctb because there's so much I couldn't do plus I'm a little afraid of pitch black

I dont think any of you want to go deaf or blind. I just got disagnosed with a new condition called hyperacusis from an MRI that I had done the technicians failed to give me any hearing protection and had me in there for 2 hours. I get massive pain in my ears from every sound. I can no longer watch tv anymore, watch youtube or instagram, go outside, talk to anyone, cant even take a shower or eat because that how bad the pain is. Its very debilitating and hardest thing to cope. Out of all my illnesses I have had, hyperacusis tops to be one of the worst, and trust me I have alot of fucked up chronic illnesses. I have cptsd, depression, anxiety, ibs c, gastroparesis, gastritis, no gallbladder, lpr, gerd, double vision, memory loss and cognitive loss, and more and of course I am also now in wheelchair. Comparing to all of those going deaf is worse. I can't tolerate any sound. I've also had vision problems a couple months ago and it was very scary I just feel like this is a little bit insensitive to people that are deaf or blind I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy

Insensitive is what OP is.
Thrives on confrontation, sees it as a badge of honour to upset people and then try to say it's not their fault it's just the way they are.

Your situation sucks my mother is going deaf also : /
But this is a hypothetical question and really seems a big stretch for people to claim it is hypothetical to ask.

Deaf, I have aphasia pretty often so I'm used to using subtitles and things like that, I don't think it would be much different to what it's eventually going to be like. Sign language looks difficult but lip reading is a thing that I'll probably have to at least try to learn anyway and I've already started to rely on loosely.

On the other hand, I don't have depth perception so I need my hearing for things like knowing how far away cars are, but I don't really go out anyway, and I can't walk very far, so...

Have you taken any legal action because of this? MRI scanners are horrible to be in even with ear protection, I can't even imagine what it's like without, but I'm not surprised that it has lifelong effects. Medical negligence is life destroying.

Yeah, I get that. The idea of it is just really stressful, especially when you're dealing with your health at the same time. I made the same decision, sometimes it's just better to preserve your energy and avoid the stress.

I'd rather die than lose either sense but, if I had to choose, I'd probably choose deafness. Partly because I could still kill myself if I was deaf. I expect it would be much harder being blind. I'd find it much harder to live alone too. I'd miss music and sound so much though. I hate sub titles. My long vision isn't good at all.

Deaf. I don't really like music anyway and I don't really like hearing things in general. Of course the major advantage with choosing deafness over blindness is that I can still ctb if I'm deaf. However, I have no chance at killing myself if I'm blind

I already have terrible vision, and I can tell you that it would be much better to lack hearing than it would be to lack your vision. We use our eyes a lot more than we use our ears in daily life.
As much as that is true, the discrimination and fear Deaf people live on a daily. People literally will doubt your ability to drive. God forbid you run into a cop unwilling to understand that you are Deaf. The constant dismissal for customer service through drive thru and need help. The angry Karens mad that you didn't respond to their "good morning". (Yes I have lived through that and needed to defend the Deaf CHILDREN!!) The people faking ASL in needed emergency services. Parents unwilling to learn ASL to include the Deaf child. Schools just passing the Deaf child without them actually understanding the topics because it's easier to do. The lack of Deaf schools with Deaf teachers and Deaf staff. The Hearing people this Deaf people of incapable of literally living alone they find it so shocking when I Deaf person walks sometimes. It's annoying who little hearing people think of the Deaf/HOH community. And yeah, the list continues and I have witnessed some so much of it through the people I knew. And even myself having to defend my COLLEGE PROFESSOR!! Trust me music is just the tip of a Deaf persons problem.

You definitely can CTB of you are blind. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Wym. As a matter of fact it's easier to make it look like an "accident". Smh let's not pretend that those who want to will find a way.

Deaf cause there's some downsides but also good sides like not being disturbed by loud or annoying noises but there's no good sides to being blind
