• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I don't believe in anarchy. Whether it is capitalism or socialism there must be a strong government and societal institutions to ensure that laws are enforced equally and aid is distributed efficiently. Without centralized instituions infrastructure will collapse and development will slow.

A utopian world is one where a benevolent dictator free from all human desires rules the world with absolute power. As this is not possible beurocratic democracy and welfare capitalism are good second options, imo.

For me, it would be the marxist-leninist idea of communism.
I think the idea is great on paper but no country has successfully implemented it… yet(?)

Do you think a benevolent AI overlord would fit the bill?

None of the countries operating under marxism leninism claimed to be communist, they were socialist on the transition to communism, which would do away with exploitation and allow everyone to have the full product of their labor.

Yes, although a human or group of humans would have to write the program, which would make it almost equally unlikely to fit the requirements as a human being imo

If we had the kind of regulated, democratic capitalism that was actually monitored for, y'know, monopolization, abuse, and fraud, and a flat tax system so everybody would have to pay their fair share, and social programs that actually helped people and weren't a cruel joke, it could actually work pretty well.
But of course everybody wants a piece of billionaire pie and is ready to doom the rest of us, and ultimately, our society and our planet to get it.
Yum yum.
I actually reserve most of my anger for the people who never have a chance in hell of getting rich but are billionaire apologists and enablers...

My friend who is a career computer scientist (software engineer) thinks UBI will be inevitble at some point.
Is he also in favor of free (unconditional) healthcare & schools? Or does he think they should be removed & replaced with UBI?

I think he favors an English style hybrid heath care system. He used to live there. Free college or just free primary? He just believes that eventually far enough in the future, jobs will all be automated away. He's an AI/machine learning researcher. And he thinks in order for people to still have a sense of purpose they will need to either have fake jobs or be payed anyway.

I was talking to him yesterday when we were traveling in Vancouver, BC together and he was saying everyone has all these misunderstandings of how AI and AGI development actually works. I do think far enough in the future, we will have a post-labor economy. I couldn't tell you when though, personally. Just my speculation.
