I love your answer! Sad that you couldn't do it though. I used to be a competitive gymnast, I loved that sport so much, it was definitely something that kept me living, I miss it dearly.

Yes sadly, I got really depressed after because it was such a big part of my life for so long to see it end was heartbreaking.

I don't remember having to answer that question in school, but I was asked from my parents. My answer was always "vet" to help animals and open a veterinary (there were a lot of sick dogs out in the streets, and I was an animal lover)

I never wanted to work. I remember even as a very young kid viewing the working world as deeply intimidating - it would literally keep me up at night, knowing it was to be my future. That fear persisted into young adulthood. Looking back I realized I slacked off a lot throughout school because I didn't want to face what was coming. It was a source of major depression for me for many years. It took me a long time to make any sort of progress with that.

Batman! Or some kind of special forces army guy. When I was young, people said I should be an actor. I would hear about an interesting job, or see something in a movie and think it looked cool, then I'd want to be it for a week or so until I learned about the bad parts of the job and lost interest. My real answer from about when I started high school was and has remained, I have no idea.

I always said I wanted to be a family. Joke was on me. Two divorces one dead partner and many miscarriages later I'm still alone.

First, I wanted to be Sonic the Hedgehog.

Then, I wanted to be in a children's anime, where I could have fun adventures but never be in any real danger.

After 9/11, I wanted to die protecting my school from terrorists, where I would kill the last terrorist at the same time they killed me, and so I'd be the only one that died (other than all of the terrorists).

And that's literally everything from when I was I kid (ages ?-17) that I can remember.

Can you say, "Maladaptive daydreaming?" (Not diagnosed, so sorry if that's inappropriate to say. Family was anti-MH, so yeah. And I don't do it anymore, so whatever it was I "grew out of it.")

Nowadays, my dream is to get on UBI and goof off until the end.

When I was younger I wanted to be a police officer. I know it sounds terrible, but I wanted to do it for the right reasons. I wanted to be the one who cared instead of enforcing terrible black and white rules in a grey world. I wanted to help.

Later I wanted to be a game programmer and after a few years of computer science, I found it to be boring. It also got to a point where I was just having a hard time grasping concepts. That could have partially been caused by starting in C++

I did go on to become an IT Support Specialist/IT Director, but only because it came easy to me, and it was the path of least resistance. I love technology and that ensured I would be working with it.

At one point I believed I could be the provider. I could find a way to earn a decent living and help support everyone I loved and cared about. I wanted to ease pain and struggling. Not many people left in my life and this became the biggest pipe dream.

Now I just try to embrace what I have become. Nothing...nobody of any consequence.
